Rock Creek Country Club - Portland, OR

Portland, Oregon, USAPacific Northwest

Rock Creek Country Club delivers a challenging 18-hole parkland course set amid Portland’s mature evergreens. With finely maintained fairways, strategic bunkering, and creative par-3s, this private club offers a demanding yet rewarding experience for low to mid-handicap golfers seeking an immersive Pacific Northwest golf outing.

Course Overview

Rock Creek Country Club offers an 18-hole private layout that blends classic challenge with the Pacific Northwest’s lush natural beauty. Located in Portland, Oregon, this course presents a parkland setting defined by mature evergreens and sculpted fairways that wind gently through rolling terrain. The course demands thoughtful shot-making with a variety of hole designs that balance strategic bunkering and subtly undulating greens, rewarding precision and course management.

With total yardage stretching just over 6,700 yards and a par of 72, Rock Creek caters predominantly to low to mid-handicap players seeking a serious challenge without sacrificing playability. Each hole invites golfers to navigate tight fairways guarded by deep rough and well-placed bunkers. The par-3s stand out for their creativity, requiring accurate distance control and club selection as they play across water and wooded areas. The course’s well-maintained surfaces make every shot feel true, while the surrounding trees act as natural funnels that frame each hole and provide a calming ambiance.

Beyond the course itself, the club facilities enhance the overall experience. The clubhouse offers a welcoming and classic interior, ideal for socializing before or after a round. The staff’s attentive service is frequently noted by visitors and members alike, contributing to a polished, members-only environment that feels exclusive yet approachable.

Walking the course is encouraged, with gentle elevation changes and well-kept cart paths supporting a comfortable pace. Portland’s climate means dampness can influence footing early in the day, so golfers are advised to wear shoes with reliable grip, especially during the rainy months.

Rock Creek Country Club stands as a benchmark for private golf in the region, combining a beautifully conditioned parkland course with a tranquil, verdant setting that demands focus and rewards creativity. Its blend of challenging holes and natural surroundings offers a golf experience polished enough to satisfy competitive players, yet inviting enough for those who appreciate classic course architecture and thoughtful design.

Course Highlights

My mom is a member here so I’ve had the pleasure of playing here several times and each visit to this course and club has been so fun and pleasent. The club is always clean and the staff knows the members well, so it really feels like a true club experience. The course is tough for me, a casual golfer, but the gorgeous views and the fact it’s a private club make me less nervous to play here. I always love coming to rock creek!

Thank you Rock Creek. The River West Church Men's Group had a great time Wednesday May 17, playing golf at Rock Creek thanks to the  staff of Tom, Craig, Emily, Brock and Chantel serving them drinks and food in the Green Bar and Grill.

I have been a member of Rock Creek for 8 years. I find that the course in the summer is always in good shape and always enjoy the challenge. The winter on the back nine is not as good and will play two front nines if possible. The staff is very professional both in the pro shop and front office. I really like the updates in the draining improvements. Lets just say I feel like I have met some of the nicest golfers and have met so many in the years playing at Rock Creek. Thanks for always making me feel welcome.

I was visiting a friend that lives in Portland, and she brought me here saying it’s one of her go-to spots and it definitely didn’t disappoint. The scenery was gorgeous and the staff was very friendly and were so upbeat and positive. I will definitely be going back there the next time I take a trip back out here!

Rock Creek Country Club is a fantastic well-manicured track with true greens, beautiful treescapes and creative fun holes, especially the par 3s. The friendly staff was extremely accommodating, and the food was quite good. Looking forward to playing there again someday!

First Time Playing With A Golf Simulator At Rock Creek: My friend Adam I didn't want to play in the rain so the simulator was a great choice to do. We played Pepple Beach and it was a challenge. I either hit in the water or sand. The simulator is on the second floor of the restaurant. It would be a fun place to have a team building events and board meetings. With the Green Bar restaurant located on the first floor we ordered food from Chantel. We both had a meatball sandwich. My friend and I will definitely do this again. #Rock Creek Country Club #Riverwest church ==================================================== Post from 10 years ago: With golf season coming up I wanted to give Rock Creek some kudos. I played there last fall with some friends for the first time. We had a great time. The course is will maintained and the staff in the golf shop treated us great. I almost brook 100. I also attended a chamber function in the club house and it had plenty of room for the 100 members who attended. I also will attending another event this Feb. their too. Mike, the Membership and Events manager, is very accommodating, when it comes to holding an event there. Dean P:S Ask Mike about the new barbecue pit.
