Course Overview

Gearhart Golf Links presents an authentic Pacific Northwest links experience just minutes from the Oregon coast. This public 18-hole layout unfolds across gently rolling terrain shaped by coastal winds, offering a blend of natural elements that test strategy and shot-making. Known for its firm, well-drained fairways, the course maintains exceptional playability through much of the year, even during the typically soggy early spring months when many coastal courses struggle with drainage.

At 6,400 yards and a par of 70, Gearhart Golf Links provides a balanced challenge suitable for a wide range of players. Its 63 deep bunkers play a significant role, sculpted to both protect the greens and catch errant approaches, demanding precision from tee to green. The greens themselves are praised for their consistent speed and smooth roll, striking a measured balance that rewards thoughtful putting without overwhelming players with excessive pace.

The course layout encourages walking, a feature embraced by many visitors who appreciate the seamless connection between holes and the crisp coastal air. Golfers can expect to find a variety of hole designs, from straightforward fairways to strategically contoured par 4s and challenging par 3s. The finishing hole, in particular, stands out as a memorable closing test, demanding focus and execution amid the presence of local wildlife, including occasional elk sightings—a rare treat that adds an unexpected layer to the round.

Beyond the fairways, Gearhart Golf Links offers a hospitable atmosphere with attentive staff and an inviting clubhouse, featuring quality dining options and a well-stocked pro shop. Players often highlight the friendly environment and the excellent service that elevates the overall experience. A popular stop for golfers exploring the Oregon coast, Gearhart combines the rugged charm of a true links course with accessibility and a thoughtful layout that encourages repeat visits.

For those planning a trip, comfortable walking shoes are recommended to navigate the undulating terrain and sandy bunkers, while taking advantage of the well-maintained cart paths for a balance of convenience and exercise. Whether seeking a serene coastal round or a strategic challenge, Gearhart delivers with a distinctive character that sets it apart in the region’s golf landscape.

Bandon gets all the love and attention. But this is an easy drive from Portland, awesome Links golf, great food and beverage options around the course too. Don’t skip out on the fun putting area on the turn.

Wow. I was impressed with this course. My wife and I golf a lot, as much as we can really, so we have some experience with courses on the pacific northwest coast. In early March, when we golfed, usually coastal courses are soggy, at least in many places. this was not the case, the course we beautifully maintained and well drained. the layout and design make for a mix of challenges and straight forward playing. It is a highly walkable course, so that's a plus as I would prefer to walk. The bunkers/sand traps are deep, but incredibly well maintained- there are 63 of them across 18 holes. The greens were amazing, not too fast, not to slow and pristine condition. I would say this is a place you must play if you love to golf and are in the area.

My first experience to Gearhart. Truly a magical place! Outstanding customer services- all employees go above and beyond. Best stout beer I’ve tasted in years and they also make awesome shakes. Food was great and rooms very accommodating. Golf was super fun on a true links course. Looking forward to a return trip for sure.

Hit up Gearhart Golf Links in 2025, and it’s easily one of the best courses I’ve played on the Pacific Northwest coast! ⛳ My wife and I golf a ton, and this place blew us away. In early March, when most coastal courses are soggy, Gearhart was pristine—super well-drained with 63 deep, perfectly maintained bunkers and greens that were just right, not too fast or slow. The layout mixes challenging and straightforward holes, and it’s highly walkable, which I love. The staff, from Jason’s maintenance crew to the pro shop, made it an experience, not just a round—hospitality at its finest! 😄 Our caddy, Sun, was awesome and added so much to the day. A must-play for any golfer in the area! 🏌️‍♂️

What an awesome course! This will forever hold a special place in my heart. Short but challenging layout with perfect greens and lots of danger lurking in the fairway to test your skills. Hole 18 is a beast of a finisher. I was lucky to have the elk take a stroll through the course during my one of my rounds. Pretty cool seeing 5 bull elk hanging around on the 18th tee box. The course staff was top rate and everything from check in, to safely herding the elk away from the greens, to asking how your round went, it's evident everyone involved with this course take great pride in this amazing place.
