Mountain Top Golf Course
Mountain Top Golf Course in Hollister, Missouri, offers a distinctive par 3 experience with 13 holes set against dramatic Ozark scenery. Walking-only play and precise green challenges create an engaging round tailored for golfers seeking a short-game test in a stunning natural setting.
Course Overview
Mountain Top Golf Course offers a unique golfing experience that departs from the traditional full-length layout. Located in Hollister, Missouri, this walking-only par 3 course features 13 holes that challenge players to sharpen their short game amid some of the most breathtaking views of the Ozarks. The course’s design embraces the natural rise and fall of the terrain, leading golfers up and down steep but manageable slopes. Despite its shorter length, Mountain Top demands precision and strategy, with pin placements often situated near bunkers, false fronts, and tiered greens that test putting skills.
The landscape feels alive here, with each hole framing expansive vistas that extend over rolling hills and dense woodlands. The conditioning is consistently high, boasting well-maintained fairways and fast, true greens. Unlike many courses where cart use is standard, Mountain Top restricts play to walking only, encouraging a slower pace that allows players to engage fully with the environment and the nuances of each shot.
This course is ideal for golfers aiming to refine their iron play and putting, offering a rewarding challenge to players across skill levels. Its shorter format makes it accessible for those looking for a refreshing round without the endurance test of a full 18 holes. Visitors praise the welcoming atmosphere and attentive staff, who provide seamless service that enhances the overall experience from first tee to last green.
Facility amenities include a well-appointed clubhouse with easy access, and nearby driving range facilities are recommended for warming up before ascending to the Mountain Top layout itself. The course’s location within Big Cedar area makes it a perfect alternative or complement to longer rounds, drawing golfers who appreciate scenic beauty paired with demanding short-game play. Whether a seasoned player or newcomer, Mountain Top Golf Course invites a memorable round where focus and finesse meet stunning natural surroundings.
Course Highlights
Mountain Top stands out with its demanding par 3 holes elevated above the Ozark landscape, featuring sharp elevation changes and highly undulating greens. They say golf is a good walked spoiled, but not this walk, not this course. What a great layout and fun for most ages. Some challenging shots and some easier shots. All in all a great experience and worth every penny. The staff is very welcoming and helpful. Will be back very soon.

Played later in the evening. The most peaceful round of my trip. It was nice to take it all in and hit some good golf shots. This is a walking only Par 3 course with 13 holes. Every hole is in perfect condition and the greens were too. Worth every bit of money to play. You will defiantly want to check out Mountain Top on your trip to Big Cedar.

What an awesome experience! This is a 13 hole (?) walking course only, no carts which we love. We wanted to hit some balls on the driving range before we started so they made sure to tell us to stop at the Buffalo Ridge course where there is a range before coming up the hill to the Mountain Top Course. At Buffalo Ridge the attendant gave us a golf cart as he said the hill may be more than we want to walk and directed us downhill to the well appointed driving range. Mountain Top itself is a very challenging par 3 course with top notch greens. It left us wondering who upset the greens keeper today as all the pin locations were in the most difficult spots (behind front edge bunkers, at the edge of the tier, within 2 feet of the false front!) Overall, we had an outstanding day! The entire friendly and professional staff made the experience even better, From taking our clubs from the drop off to the first tee, opening doors, following us to the parking area to give us a ride back to the clubhouse and picking up our clubs on the 13th green to return them to the drop off point. We will definitely be back to play this course and their other courses as well!

Too notch - best with a couple, simple and slow palace as you walk up and down through some steep (but short) elevation to get to each hole. Don’t rush it, walk slow and look around a lot! 13 holes can go super quick and then you’re left thinking I paid over $100 for that? LOL. Course is manicured and would play the main 18 hole course here in a heartbeat.

As it says, on the top of the mountain. 13 holes par 3 course. Walking course. Designed by Gary Player Relatively easy. Relaxed golfing. Some interesting peculiarities like iron stairs and walkways through the rocks. Nice views. Good for warming up before you play the more challenging 18-hole courses.
