The Pointe Golf Club

Powells Point, North Carolina, USAOuter Banks

The Pointe Golf Club delivers a coastal golf experience just minutes from the Outer Banks, featuring an 18-hole course with open fairways, strategic water hazards, and approachable length suited to a wide range of players. Coupled with attentive service and a casual clubhouse, this course balances challenge and comfort for vacationers and locals alike.

Course Overview

Occupying a prime location just across the causeway from the Outer Banks, The Pointe Golf Club offers an accessible and refreshing round of golf with notable coastal influences. This 18-hole public course combines open, wide fairways with strategic water hazards and well-placed bunkers that demand a balanced approach off the tee and an attentive short game. Stretching approximately 6,000 yards from the blue tees, The Pointe encourages players of varying skills to challenge their shot-making without overwhelming length.

The landscape reflects the coastal environment with gentle rolls and intermittent marshes weaving through the layout, creating natural obstacles that influence club selection and shot trajectory. Golfers encounter several holes where water comes into play, requiring precision while also lending visual interest. The greens are generally receptive and well-maintained, encouraging a firm but fair putting test. On windy days, a common element given the maritime setting, players are invited to adjust their swings and tactics, which adds an extra layer of intrigue to the round.

Beyond the scorecard, The Pointe sets itself apart through attentive service and amenities. The clubhouse offers a casual atmosphere where players can recharge; the grill is known for hearty fare, including a burger praised by visitors for delivering a satisfying finish to the round. A personalized touch comes with staff who assist with cart delivery and retrieval directly at the car, enhancing convenience and allowing golfers to focus on their game.

The course features four sets of tees, catering to a broad range of handicaps and ensuring the pace of play remains steady. Walking is permitted and the generally flat terrain makes for manageable navigation, though players should consider the sandy soil conditions when selecting footwear. With friendly staff and a layout that encourages strategic thinking without excessive punishment, The Pointe Golf Club stands as a reliable choice for Outer Banks visitors seeking a relaxed yet engaging golf experience.

Fantastic course just across the causeway from OBX. Maybe 10min from the bridge. Nice course. Four sets of tees. Gold. Blue. White. Red. Not terribly long (5900ish from the blues). Gold are the tips. Cart girl made her rounds a handful of times. Nice dog at the turn. Four hour round. Greens in good shape. No real complaints except we played on a three club windy day. Still a good time though!

10/10 beach course. The starter Mike was dead on explaining the course, very user friendly and pretty wide open, plus it’s beautiful! Had to try really hard to lose balls. Also the only course I been to that someone delivered the carts and picked them up by our car, big shoutout the homie Brady. To top things off, the clubhouse burger and fries absolutely SLAPPED. Ansley and Lindsay were going hard in the paint over transfusions, orange crushes, and everything else! Will always be back when in OBX

Two of my sons-in-law and I played 18 at the Pointe and had a great time. The staff was friendly and accommodating for Outer Banks vacationers like us. We appreciated the extra effort! The course was in great shape, and as others have noted, it’s very open. The challenges come from water hazards and bunkers that protect many of the greens.
