Course Overview
Situated in Grandy, North Carolina, The Carolina Club offers an 18-hole course that blends straightforward design with subtle tests of precision and strategy. As a public facility welcoming golfers of varying experience, the layout encourages an unhurried pace and accessible play without sacrificing challenge. The course stretches just over 6,400 yards from the back tees with a par of 72, presenting a thoughtful mix of tighter fairways alongside more open holes, set within a lakeside residential development.
The Carolina Club's terrain displays gentle elevation changes and incorporates natural water features that come into play on multiple holes, requiring well-placed tee shots and carefully judged approach shots. Bunkers are positioned to guard greens and penalize errant shots, adding a sharpening edge to an otherwise inviting round. This balance makes it comfortable for mid-to-high handicappers while still offering enough complexity to engage lower-handicap players seeking to hone accuracy.
Practicing here provides a compact yet serviceable range targeting mid-irons through wedges, alongside a standard practice putting green and a sand bunker for short game drills. Golfers arriving early can take advantage of these facilities to prepare before stepping onto the course. Although the cart paths show signs of wear in places and some fairway areas undergo maintenance periodically, the course remains enjoyable and playable year-round in favorable weather.
The Carolina Club's setting offers a blend of natural and residential scenery, framing the round with calm water views and mature trees that occasionally funnel the wind and influence shot shapes. The clubhouse provides a casual, welcoming atmosphere for post-round gatherings. For golfers seeking a stress-free experience without extravagant demands, this course delivers an approachable yet thoughtful test surrounded by coastal North Carolina charm.
Walkers will find the course manageable with mostly flat terrain and recommended comfortable footwear due to some sandy areas near the greens. Cart availability allows flexibility depending on preference or weather conditions. Visitors should consider mid-week or off-peak tee times to fully enjoy a quieter pace with fewer interruptions. Overall, The Carolina Club complements the Outer Banks region with a solid golfing option that balances accessibility, strategic design, and scenic variety.

Played this on a wintery day in April. I thought it was pretty fun! The staff was amazing by the way—super friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The layout is straightforward. This would be a nice stress free golf course to play if that’s what you’re looking for—except for a couple of the holes where you have to land your ball on an island. I’d love to play in the summer time!

I was fortunate enough to find a decent golf course the other day while I was in the outer banks. The Carolina Club had an open tee time with a high price for the 18 holes. All of the staff were nice enough. The course conditions were pretty good but not 5 star material. There are a few rough spots here and there. Greens were adequate. Like I said the prices were a bit high for the conditions of the course, but they have you by the short hirs as they know there are only a few places to golf in the outer banks. Would I play this course again, you ask? Possibly so.

Played here June 2024 while on vacation. Came here as we loved The Pointe Golf Club so much and this is its sister course. 1.) Course was in great shape. Tee boxes, fairways, and greens all in great shape! The course is within a development and much tighter than I had expected, particularly the front 9, back 9 felt more open. Nothing outrageous though, even for me and I am a very very average golfer (100s +/- 8). Some great bunkers to compete with and challenging holes given a tighter fairway, bunkers, and water....quite a bit of water on this course which does come into play (as opposed to Pointe GC where the water was more decorative than anything) Cart paths could use some TLC at some parts of the course and the fairways in some areas were under repair, but really didn't effect our play at all. 2.) Practice area is okay. Small range for 7i-wedges. No driver or woods/hybrids. Practice green was standard, there is an area to hit out of the sand as well. 3.) We paid only $79 for the round as we played Pointe GC prior and they gave us $10 off. We didn't even say we played Pointe and they were able to see on their system which was super cool. All in all for the price pointe it was great, but probably would not spend more than $80 on the round here and play elsewhere.

Played today now that the busy season is over. The Greens are immaculate! Spent 3 days in Williamsburg last weekend playing several courses. None of the greens were in this condition. Fast, smooth, and true. Fairways were great as well. Looking forward to the rest of the year
