Moanalua Golf Club
Moanalua Golf Club in Honolulu offers a compact 9-hole course that balances easy-going play with subtle elevation challenges. Its wide fairways and elevated greens make it a welcoming stop for golfers seeking a quick round in a natural valley setting.
Course Overview
Moanalua Golf Club offers a distinctive golf experience with its compact 9-hole layout set within a valley environment in Honolulu, Hawaii. The course presents an inviting challenge for players seeking a quick round while enjoying subtle elevation changes and a local atmosphere. Unlike many traditional courses, Moanalua’s fairways are broad and forgiving, lined occasionally by thick trees and natural brush, primarily along the right side of several holes. This layout encourages strategic shot placement without the constant threat of penal hazards, making it accessible for a wide range of skill levels.
The greens at Moanalua are slightly elevated and slope with the natural mountain terrain, adding a nuanced layer to the putting game. Though some players might notice that the turf conditions vary, with longer grass on the greens slowing the roll and occasional bare patches, this reflects the course’s relaxed, community-focused character rather than a typical resort-level precision. With no greenside bunkers, the course emphasizes shot shaping and control over recovery shots, inviting golfers to engage with its straightforward yet subtly complex design.
Moanalua is equipped with essential practice amenities, including a small putting and chipping area adjacent to the first hole, supporting players looking to warm up before their round. Notably, the facility does not offer a driving range, underscoring its role as a convenient, casual play spot rather than a high-end training complex.
The clubhouse, located above the course, features a restaurant praised for prompt service and a welcoming atmosphere, where players can enjoy local flavors alongside a refreshing beverage after their round. Staff attention and hospitality stand out as highlights for visitors, with rental clubs readily available and a friendly community vibe throughout.
This course appeals to tourists and locals alike who want an enjoyable, efficient golf outing without long waits or excessive walking. Its valley setting shapes a unique interplay between terrain and play, making Moanalua a worthwhile stop for golfers exploring Honolulu’s accessible courses.

This is a 9 hole course with a mix of parking 3's, 4's, and 5's. The condition of the course is pretty rough. The course is located in a valley, and shots will typically role with the slope of the mountain. Tee boxes were not cut, grass looked like the the rough, and some tee boxes were sandy. The fairway grass was pretty thick, and it was hard to tell the difference between the rough and fairway. The grass is not the typical type of grass you find on golf courses. The fairways are pretty wide, and missing left or a little tight won't hurt you. There are thick trees and bushes on some of the holes, usually on the right side. The greens are elevated a little and sloping with the mountain side. There are bald spots on the greens that make it harder to putt through. The grass was pretty long for greens, and it made the ball roll really slow. There are no greenside bunkers at this course. Amenities: -No driving range, it's a smaller course -There is a small putting and chipping green by hole 1 There is a restaurant upstairs at the clubhouse. The food was pretty good and the service was fast. They do sell alcohol for those that want to enjoy a beverage.

Not saying this is the most scenic quentisial Hawaii course. But if you want a quick round with some interesting holes, this will do the job. Easy to get to and a bargain. Nice staff that let us borrow clubs for my son. Booked it on Golf now for only $25 a player. Local vibes at the restaurant

Not a bad course. Pace was fantastic because not too many golfers played this course today. Also, some of the holes were very challenging to say the least. We’ll definitely be coming back soon!!
