Nemadji Golf Course

Superior, Wisconsin, USANorthwest Wisconsin

Nemadji Golf Course delivers dependable public golf across two 18-hole layouts blending parkland terrain with varied challenges. Located in Superior, Wisconsin, it offers a straightforward yet engaging experience with friendly service and scenic but practical settings.

Course Overview

Situated just off 58th Street in Superior, Wisconsin, Nemadji Golf Course offers a comprehensive golfing experience across 36 holes split between two distinct 18-hole layouts. This public facility appeals to a wide range of players, from casual weekend golfers to those seeking a rigorous test of shot-making and course management. The course winds through gently rolling terrain with a mix of open fairways and tree-lined sections, reflecting a classic parkland style that emphasizes strategy over length.

The east and west courses each present unique challenges and character. While fairways generally remain generous, the putting greens demand attention with subtle breaks and occasionally uneven surfaces, requiring a steady touch on the greenside. The courses' conditioning has drawn mixed remarks, with fairways holding up relatively well but tee boxes and some greens occasionally showing signs of heavy play, especially during peak seasons.

Scenic in its simplicity, Nemadji’s natural setting incorporates native grasses and occasional glimpses of wildlife, adding calm and unpredictability to the round. Golfers often find that the changing wind patterns require adjustments to club choice and shot shape, especially on the western layout where open stretches expose the play to Superior’s lake-effect breezes.

Beyond the course itself, Nemadji features a welcoming clubhouse complete with a pro shop known for attentive service and practical support, including club fitting and repairs. The driving range provides ample space to warm up, and food offerings at the clubhouse are well-reviewed, making it a comfortable place to relax after 18 or 36 holes.

This course maintains a steady pace of play despite its popularity, encouraging players to embrace the natural rhythm of the game. Nemadji is a solid destination for players looking to enjoy Lake Superior’s golf scene without leaving the city, providing reliable golf with an honest layout that rewards patience and shot selection.

Plan your visit with weather-appropriate gear, as Superior’s northern climate can turn brisk, and consider playing early in the day to avoid afternoon crowds. Whether testing your drive or honing your short game, Nemadji holds enough variety and value to satisfy a broad spectrum of golfers.

This is a beautiful 36-hole course. Course is kept in great shape. The staff are friendly and service is always good. The course can get busy, and sometimes you're waiting on the group in front of you. This makes it a great time to just take in the views and scenery around you. I feel like this is one of the better public courses in the area. My golf group makes the drive from Cloquet,MN, each time just to play 18holes. The driving range is a good way to warm up and stretch out before your tee time. Lots of different creatures roam around the course. You never know what you might see. You can even watch the planes take off and land not too far from the course as they fly overhead while playing the west course. Will definitely be back for more golf.

I bought a new set of Taylor Made graphite irons on line after a bad service experience at a Duluth retailer forced me to return them. I called the Nemadji pro shop and they said could do the grips and answered every question I had. I brought them there the next day. I wasn’t waited on by just an individual, but a team of friendly staff. I was told they’d be ready the following day at the latest. I received a call less than two hours later that my clubs were ready. When I came back around 5 pm the shop was busy but the staff acknowledged me, took care of the customers efficiently, and got to me as soon as they could. The cost for the new grips was lower than the other store. Well done. You have my pro shop business for sure.

The east west course was fairly enjoyable. The grass conditions were fair. Staff were friendly. Good location right outside Duluth.

This course is overplayed; it is completely beat up and needs some daily attentions. Fairways are decent but tee boxes are horrible and people need to learn how to repair divot marks on greens.
