Oregon Golf Club

West Linn, Oregon, USANorthwest Oregon

Oregon Golf Club offers an 18-hole private championship course framed by Pacific Northwest forests and expansive views of Mount Hood and the Willamette River. Its rolling terrain and well-maintained greens create a thoughtful challenge for golfers across all skill levels.

Course Overview

Set amid the rolling foothills of West Linn, Oregon Golf Club offers a striking 18-hole championship layout that demands both strategic thinking and precise execution. This private course gracefully combines the rugged beauty of the Pacific Northwest with a design that encourages players of all levels to engage thoughtfully with each shot. The routing winds through mature Douglas firs and subtle elevation changes, unveiling panoramic views of Mount Hood to the east and the shimmering Willamette River valley below.

The course stands out for its artful interplay of natural contours and carefully placed bunkers that guard the smooth, undulating greens. While the front nine challenges golfers with tighter fairways and variable lies, the back nine shifts focus into a richly forested environment where shot placement is critical amidst the northwest trees. These contrasting natures make the round a stimulating test that rewards both patience and creativity.

Maintaining top-tier conditions is a clear priority here. The greens roll fast and consistently, demanding a refined touch on putts of all lengths. Fairways are smooth and well-maintained, offering fair reward to honest play, while the bunkers contain ample sand and are meticulously tended.

Guests walking the course will find the terrain varied, with gentle rises and occasional steeper slopes that encourage stable footwear and a fit approach to navigation. The peaceful setting remains largely serene, interrupted only by the soft whisper of the wind or the distant call of local wildlife.

Oregon Golf Club also boasts a modern clubhouse with event spaces that suit everything from intimate gatherings to larger celebrations. Players and visitors can enjoy an experience where golf and hospitality come together seamlessly. Given its private status, access is reserved for members and their guests, making for an exclusive and undisturbed round.

For golfers seeking a course that balances scenic grandeur with a genuine challenge, Oregon Golf Club presents a compelling destination. Whether you aim to test your skill or simply savor an afternoon immersed in the region’s natural character, this course invites a memorable encounter on Pacific Northwest soil.

Course Highlights

The course is defined by its routing through Douglas fir woodlands and open hillside vistas, offering memorable views of Mount Hood and the Willamette River. The front nine challenges with uneven fairways and tight corridors, while the back nine winds through mature forest, requiring precise shot-making. Meticulously maintained greens roll true and fast, with strategically placed bunkers protecting key scoring areas. The clubhouse serves as a refined gathering space with flexible event venues and panoramic outlooks.

I came here as a guest to a wedding recently. It was a bit of a winding drive and might take you some time of you are coming from Portland. The wedding was partially outdoor and partially in a covered pavilion. The grounds were beautiful cared for and a few roses were still in bloom (mid September) adding natural decoration to the event. The bathrooms are in the building that is for club members, so depending on the length of the event, you may be going back and forth quite a bit. One of our party was in a wheelchair and I did note it was extra tricky for her. If you use a walker or wheels, I saw more stairs than ramps. Another note about the bathrooms as pertains to ladies: the main floor bathroom is pretty tight space with only four stalls. Would be difficult if you had a wheelchair and just gets crowded with such a large event. The event was catered and the wedding coordinator and staff were really attentive and organized. The event itself ran very smoothly and I was impressed at how nice the whole event was. Not sure if they are a package deal with the club, but I would assume so. The food was nice, nothing spectacular... But nice and presented well. Food came out as individual plates in courses. The servers worked so hard and were so professional. There was ample parking that was set aside for the special event. It was nice how the club was very separate from the wedding and only accessing the bathroom overlapped into the club itself. I think the event was about 200 people, and that seemed a good size for the space.

While in the Portland area this weekend I played two courses. This Oregon Golf Club was outstanding. The views were incredible of Mt Hood and the Willamette River. Now the course was as good as the views. The greens were in perfect shape. They were rolling fast and true. Bunkers had lots of sand and well maintained. The fairways were perfect. The course is a challenge as well. The front 9 you will have very few flat lies. The back 9 weaves through the NW trees. If you get this opportunity to play, take it!! I’ll be back.
