Nob North Golf Course

Cohutta, Georgia, USANorthwest Georgia

Nob North Golf Course offers a public, 18-hole championship layout challenging golfers with large, undulating greens and sharp doglegs. Located near Chattanooga, this course combines open fairways with strategic elements, perfect for players seeking both playability and a serious test.

Course Overview

Nob North Golf Course presents an engaging challenge for golfers seeking a well-maintained, public 18-hole layout just north of Chattanooga. The course stretches over 7,100 yards from the back tees with a par of 72, offering a test that rewards strategic play and shot shaping amid open fairways and sharply contoured greens. Positioned in the rolling terrain of Cohutta, Georgia, the landscape complements a layout filled with sharp doglegs, blind tee shots, and large undulating greens that demand precise approach shots and thoughtful putting.

The course’s design encourages an adventurous mindset without alienating intermediate players. Its expansive fairways grant ample room off the tee, yet the positioning of bunkers and natural hazards requires careful navigation. Players are often met with wind conditions that subtly influence ball flight, adding a tactical layer that keeps experience fresh from round to round. The greens are known for speed and complexity, inviting golfers to focus on pace and break, with some holes offering dramatic pin positions.

Nob North balances its challenge with well-kept surfaces and amenities including GPS-equipped carts that aid players in reading the course’s more confusing doglegs and blind shots, particularly valuable for first-time visitors. While the facility offers a relaxed, friendly atmosphere, there are occasional reports of drainage issues following heavy rain, so scheduling a visit during drier periods is advisable for optimal conditions.

Beyond the course, Nob North operates as a top public destination with beer sales on-site and a clubhouse providing a gathering spot after play. Reserving tee times ahead is recommended, especially on weekends, as demand grows steadily. Walking is permitted, and the generally gentle terrain makes it accessible for those who prefer to experience the course on foot.

For golfers drawn to a public-course experience reminiscent of a private club’s polish, Nob North delivers an authentic test alongside vibrant local hospitality. Expect a layout that challenges your full bag while rewarding careful course management and solid fundamentals.

Beautiful course. Well maintained. The GPS on carts will help 1st timers with all the sharp doglegs and blind tee shots. Be ready for some 3 putts on fast, undulating greens. Best public course around. Definitely worth the drive from Chattanooga Dalton or surrounding areas.

The course layout is great, but the drainage system is extremely poor. I understand it rained about a week ago, but the ground should have dried out in four days. Instead, it felt like we were playing in mud.

Great place, kinda pricey compared to other courses around the area. Need to make tee time if you want to play any day of week. Big greens, open fairways. Does sell beer

Golf course is decent , The pro-shop staff horrible , tried to make a tee time online it would not let me for 1 person called the pro-shop to make the tee time the man on the phone was made because he had to do it getting a attitude the whole time on the phone , that's why this place has gotten the nickname snob-north instead of nob-north , change the personalities in the pro-shop this alone will make this golf course a lot better .
