Its layout presents a mix of gently rolling front nine fairways and a more varied back nine topography, where slight elevation changes invite strategic shot-making. Haymaker GC has the best customer service of any public course I've ever played. I was in town from Boston for a wedding and managed to squeeze in a round on a quiet Sunday afternoon. From the golf shop to the bag drop and the starter, everyone was so friendly. Greens were perfect, course design was a lot of fun with some memorable holes, especially on the back 9. Definitely worth playing if you're in Steamboat Springs during the summer.

The bartender makes a great old fashioned. Scotch and Rocks are beautiful! The restaurant is cozy, and the food was good. Everyone we met was super friendly. I’d love to do this during the holidays.

Course is in decent shape as we played in early July. There appeared to be a ton of divots that were not fixed on the greens which became annoying as the round went. Front nine plays pretty flat while the back does have a bit of elevation change to it (know this if you do decide to walk). We were behind a foursome of locals who were older and walking. These were the slowest people ever as multiple groups were waiting on the tee box while they were searching for their lost ball. Starter said that they should know better.
