Course Overview

West Bolton Golf Club offers a distinctive mountain golfing experience that challenges players while showcasing Vermont’s natural beauty. Located just west of the Bolton Valley area, this 18-hole course blends a rolling layout with varied elevation changes that test every facet of a golfer’s game. The course unfolds with thoughtful doglegs and blind shots, requiring strategic shot placement, particularly in the tighter front nine. By contrast, the back nine opens up with more forgiving terrain but remains demanding with its length and undulating fairways.

Designed for players ranging from beginners to seasoned competitors, West Bolton balances accessibility with enough complexity to keep experienced golfers engaged. The fairways are well-maintained and framed by mature trees, while the greens present subtle breaks that reward careful reads and sound putting strokes. The mountain setting delivers striking views of the surrounding Green Mountains, enhancing the round with scenic moments that refresh as much as the crisp Vermont air.

Visitors will find the staff renowned for their welcoming approach, often supplying helpful resources such as a greens book that guides newcomers through the course’s nuances. The club favors a relaxed atmosphere where pace of play and enjoyment are prioritized, making it an ideal destination for families and social groups as well as serious players.

Despite its challenging elements, West Bolton remains approachable with a layout that does not overwhelm. Elevation shifts add character without demanding excessive physical strain, though walking golfers should be prepared with sturdy footwear and a moderate level of fitness. Carts are available, and the club’s attention to detail extends to course-side amenities like water stations, enhancing comfort throughout the round.

As one of northern Vermont’s most well-regarded venues, West Bolton Golf Club pairs competitive golf with genuine hospitality. It’s a place where the mountain landscape quietly tests your strategy and skill, inviting golfers of all backgrounds to engage with the sport in a setting that feels both natural and thoughtfully crafted.

Course Highlights

The course's hallmark is its varied elevation changes, particularly on the front nine where blind shots and strategic doglegs demand thoughtful navigation. Very friendly staff who make you feel welcome. The course is beautifully maintained, they keep water coolers full on the course and pay attention to the little things. One of the better values in the area. It’s a fairly short course so if you’re a mid to high handicap player it isn’t too intimidating. I’ll definitely be back.

Beautiful location just west of Bolton Valley area, dont let the driveway disway you from from heading up. This can be a challenging course with a lot of elevation changes and dog legs leading to a lot of blind of shots, the back nine is much more open and flatter though relatively long. The views are gorgeous of the surrounding Green Mountains and staff is very friendly and helpful. As it was my first time golfing I was given a free greens book to use I the round (the yardage in it is a bit outdated, but the tips and layout are useful). Price is also a good deal after 3 on Saturday it was $74 for two people with a cart for 18 holes. Would recommend this course to anyone in the area looking for a challenging course with some beautiful views.

I cannot say enough about the beauty and kindness this golf course embraces. Jeff and Mary do an amazing job to make this an amazing golf course an experience that keeps me coming back year after year! The earliest twilight hours in the state, the March madness special for us who don’t get to play as much as we wish, and the consideration for new golfers who are not shooting par each hole. If I could give ten stars I would. Thank you West Bolton for the golf course you provide and all of the hard work your staff puts into providing me with an excellent experience time after time.
