Lakewood Links Golf Club

Alburgh, Vermont, USANorthern Vermont

Lakewood Links Golf Club delivers a public, 18-hole links-style layout marked by open fairways, firm greens, and gentle rolling terrain. Its blend of traditional links elements and approachable design makes it an inviting choice for golfers seeking both challenge and scenic play in Northern Vermont.

Course Overview

Lakewood Links Golf Club presents a distinctive 18-hole layout that captures the essence of a classic links-style experience within Vermont’s tranquil landscape. Situated along VT-129 in Alburgh, this semi-coastal course offers gently rolling terrain that invites players to engage with natural contours and open vistas rarely found in the region. The course is a public facility, welcoming golfers seeking a blend of traditional links challenge and approachable playability.

From the first tee, Lakewood Links tests shot-making with wide fairways punctuated by strategic bunkering and subtle elevation changes. The greens are firm and receptive, rewarding precision and thoughtful putting. Several holes demand careful navigation around wind that can shift with the lake breezes, making club selection a key part of the day’s strategy. Its par-3s, including shared tee boxes for holes 7 and 9, present unique challenges with varying distances and natural hazards.

Players of all skill levels find the course inviting. Ample tee options allow novices to enjoy a fairer experience while low handicappers can sharpen their skills amid the course’s length and tricky green complexes. The openness of the layout encourages freedom in shot shaping but reveals a complexity in how the terrain influences ball flight and rollout.

Lakewood Links also features a welcoming clubhouse with a pub offering casual dining and scenic deck views where players can unwind post-round with a well-prepared burger, fries, and a cold beer. The practice facilities include a driving range with mat and grass options plus a well-maintained putting green adjacent to the clubhouse, supporting focused warm-ups or post-round touch-ups.

Visitors will note the warm and accommodating staff, contributing to a relaxed yet engaging atmosphere. The overall design binds the spirit of traditional Scottish links courses with a Northern New England character, providing an enjoyable journey through open fairways, bunkers that challenge approach shots, and greens that demand accuracy.

Whether pursuing a spirited round with friends or developing your game, Lakewood Links Golf Club offers a refreshing golf day framed by natural beauty and genuine hospitality.

Had an amazing time and being the first time I ever played lakeside links, an amazing adventure. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. For a links course the course is pretty open. The greens were very firm and smooth which made rolling the ball straight very easy. I grabbed a burger fries and cold beer after the round and enjoyed the view on the deck. The burger was cooked perfectly, the house made fries were nice and crispy. I would recommend anyone who hasn’t played lakeside links yet to check it out. Thank you to the staff for the great experience and I will certainly be returning

Have played in 31 countries and 43 states… Played the front nine today and was simply blown away by holes 3 thru 9. I felt like I was in the Scottish highlands or an English park side course. Truly a gem that deserves to be recognized. Par threes share a tee box, hole 7 and 9 are as tough as they come!

I had a great round. Watching the families playing with their children teaching them the game was so refreshing. Everyone was on the course enjoying themselves. This is a special experience. If you’ve never played here, you need to make time and see what I’m talking about.

My first time playing at Alburg Golf Links and it was phenomenal. Checked-in at the Pro Shop where I was introduced to Doug (leading the shop) for my tee-time (mid-morning). They were busy as I overheard Doug saying they were booked from 7AM-12:30pm. Came in as a single, joined a group of 3, and played the full 18. The course layout was great, mostly open course with a few dog-legs, rolling hills, and Par 3s. It had just rained very hard the days before so the conditions weren’t great but I can’t judge on that. Given it had been a warm, dry, day, it may have been better. Nonetheless, I started heating up in the back 9 and overall played great throughout. The ninth hole ends at the clubhouse along with 18th, great design. Lastly, there are some paved paths for carts but mostly grass. I try to avoid the fairway as courtesy but sometimes it’s not possible. Anyway, Doug, thanks for the professionalism and respect, I’ll be coming back with some family. Its a nice course for the area of upstate VT/NY and I encourage you to check it out if you’re around. Other things: they have a nice practice putting green down toward the 18th/1st hole. A driving range with mats/no mats to practice and you’ll need a token from the pro-shop to get balls from the machine. Sometimes there are balls in the road entering/exiting the driveway so watch out for wayward range balls. A nice canopy of trees entering/exiting as well. Thank you.
