Located near Taos, this public course stands apart with its natural, unmanicured character—a result of deliberate design choices that respect the local environment. The course is carved into rolling land marked by gentle elevations and wild grasses that respond to seasonal changes. In spring, the landscape flourishes with green hues that contrast sharply with the high-desert sky, while summer’s warmth brings a drier, earthier palette. Valle Escondido delivers a memorable golf outing that combines the quiet dignity of its landscape with well-maintained playing surfaces, all within easy reach of Taos’s vibrant cultural scene.

The great hidden valley golf course in the Taos / Angel Fire NM area. Golfing in the high mountains of New Mexico. What a great way to spend the day.

Me and my brother are visiting in red river and the views here were gorgeous. The only thing I’d have against it was that the grass wasn’t the best but I couldn’t really complain because the views were that good.

My daughter, son-in-law, an I played here last weekend. We had a marvelous time. The surrounding scenery is fantastic, with the wet spring I have never seen these mountains so green. This is a "green" course, meaning they don't water the fairways which makes perfect sense for the region. Therefore the fairways are mowed native wild grasses which I like, not manicured Kentucky Bluegrass. Also, Erica is a perfect host, handling everything from player check-in and a quick orientation to the course layout, to beers and lunch after. I am certain we will be back sometime soon.

Hidden gem about 20 minutes from Taos. Challenging course, greens well kept and the best part, not crowded! I hate to let the secret out! Can't wait to go back.
