Course Overview

Red Hawk Golf and Resort, located in Sparks, Nevada, offers a compelling blend of golf and mountain scenery for players seeking a challenging yet enjoyable round. This public 18-hole championship course stretches over 7,100 yards from the back tees, providing ample length for low handicappers while maintaining approachable options from forward tees. Its layout weaves through the sweeping Nevada landscape, with expansive fairways framed by rugged foothills and desert vegetation, creating a distinct mountain-course atmosphere that tests both shot-making and course management.

The Hills Course is the heart of Red Hawk, characterized by undulating greens that reward precision with smooth, fast putting surfaces. Natural wind factors often add a layer of tactical challenge, encouraging players to adapt their strategy throughout the round. Bunkers protect many greens and fairway landing zones, shaping risk-reward decisions that invite golfers to weigh aggressive lines against safer plays.

Beyond the course itself, Red Hawk supports players with a modern practice facility, including a full driving range and short game area designed for honing every aspect of the game before heading out. The clubhouse offers welcoming amenities such as a well-stocked pro shop and David Grill, a restaurant known for hearty fare and local flavors that round out the golf experience.

Visitors will find the course well-maintained year-round, though occasional Nevada winds may influence play, especially in the afternoon. The terrain provides a varied walking experience; while some elevation changes require a steady pace, well-placed cart paths make the course accessible for all. This combination of challenge and comfort caters to golfers from intermediate to advanced, making Red Hawk a notable destination within the Sparks-Reno golf scene.

Whether for a casual round, tournament play, or an extended resort stay, Red Hawk Golf and Resort delivers an engaging golf journey framed by the natural beauty and wide-open skies of Northern Nevada.

We had a 2-day event that our out of town group of 50 participated in this past weekend. Our group of 20 golfers on Thursday got to experience the Nevada wind on the stunning Hills course. Jake and team made our event fun and easy!! Dinner on Friday was spectacular. The Mahi Mahi and Pork were some of the best we've ever had. JJ our server and Ken our bartender did a great job of keeping the guests happy. The Member's Lounge area was just perfect for our group.

The Lakes course is challenging. The greens are bumpy and the sand traps are very compacted. Enjoyed the layout with lots of water hazards. The pace of play was rough. Took us just just short of 5 hrs to play the round. 3 of those hours were on the back 9. 😩 Still a nice course, look forward to playing it again.

Drove to Sparks Reno for a nice round of golf. Finnish as the rain came. Parking close to cart pick up/Pro shop was spread apart and not set up well. The course is well maintained. And the balls fly up there. Practice range was nice. Food was decent, but salty!! Golf course 8/10 Pace of play 10/10 Food 5/10 Practice Facility 8/10

Myself along with about 20 other golfers from the CalPacific Golf Club recently played 2 days at RH on Thursday/Friday and had a GREAT time thanks to the courses, as well as the wonderful staff. SPecial shout out goes to Cart Girl Susan who I had the pleasure of meeting both days and the only thing better than the fantastic drinks she poured was her smiling and cheerful demeanor. SHe made our entire experience that much better!

Red hawk is the laughing stock of the golf courses in Reno. By FAR the most expensive public course and for absolutely no good reason. Greens are choppy and look like there growing a disease on them. The sand is straight rocks and dirt. Was my home course growing up and it used to be so convenient and fun to play and so disappointed how far it's fallen compared to other courses around the area. Other courses are relatively the same price and upping there standards, Red Hawk is doing the opposite. They think there a luxury course and resort and it's laughable. Play any other course your wallet with thank me later.

I played in our annual #slice and dice Golf tournament there , Hills Course, with friends of decades. The course was in excellent shape, the greens were beautiful and rolled smoothly with perfect weather , made for a great outing! In addition, the cart girl Susan was amazing, always smiling, friendly and very pretty! And in addition, worked hard, i think we saw her 4 times during the one round! Always there when needed and then some! Thanks Susan!
