Lakeridge Golf Course

Reno, Nevada, USANorthern Nevada

Lakeridge Golf Course in Reno, Nevada, is a scenic 18-hole public layout that balances natural mountain beauty with a carefully crafted design. Known for its well-maintained fairways and challenging elevation changes, it offers an inviting yet testing experience for golfers seeking both playability and memorable holes.

Course Overview

Set against the striking backdrop of the Sierra Nevada, Lakeridge Golf Course offers an 18-hole public layout that combines natural beauty with thoughtful design. Located in Reno, Nevada, this course presents a welcoming atmosphere where golfers of various skill levels can test their game amid pine-lined fairways and well-maintained greens. The layout challenges with elevation changes and strategically placed hazards, yet provides a playability that keeps the experience enjoyable rather than daunting.

Lakeridge stretches across just over 7,000 yards with a par of 72, demanding accuracy from the tee and precision on approach shots. The course’s conditioning is consistently praised, with fairways that maintain a pristine quality and greens that respond with consistent roll and pace. A particular highlight is the 15th hole — a long par-3 that measures approximately 200 yards but plays significantly tougher due to wind exposure and its elevated green. It requires careful club selection and respect for the conditions, making it a memorable challenge for any player.

The setting benefits from Reno's clear skies and mountain vistas, offering golfers an experience that is both visually striking and engaging. Pine trees border many holes, framing tight corridors that demand controlled ball-striking. Water hazards and sand bunkers are thoughtfully integrated, guarding key landing areas and greens without overwhelming the layout.

Amenities at Lakeridge are practical and supportive of a smooth round. The clubhouse includes a pro shop stocked for essentials and a casual dining space for post-round relaxation. Cart use is common but walking is encouraged, with groomed pathways and manageable terrain supporting both styles of play.

Overall, Lakeridge Golf Course strikes a balance between scenic enjoyment and competitive golf. Whether it’s your first visit or a return trip, the course delivers an accessible challenge enveloped by the natural allure of Northern Nevada’s landscape. Players should prepare for variable winds and elevation shifts, ensuring a round that sharpens focus while offering moments to absorb the surroundings.

Course Highlights

Lakeridge’s mountain setting shapes its play, with elevation changes influencing shot selection and wind patterns adding complexity, particularly on the notably challenging 15th hole. The course combines wide fairways bordered by dense pine stands and precise hazard placement, resulting in a layout that rewards thoughtful strategy and solid shot execution.

Lakeridge Golf Course is proof that Duncan Golf knows what they’re doing. The place is spotless — fairways are perfect, greens are rolling quick (about a 10 when I played), and the whole course looks like someone actually cares… because they do. It’s seriously one of the cleanest, most well-groomed courses around. But fair warning — hole 15 is a liar. They will tell you the yardage, But reality? That sucker plays 200 all day long. Club up, save yourself the headache, and enjoy watching everyone else come up short. Beautiful course, great condition, solid challenge… what more do you need?

Don't understand the recent 5 star reviews. Two stars cuz its a nice layout. Played July 16th. Been playing lakeridge for 40 years. Used to be a great course where you were proud to bring your friends. Here's a rundown: Greens are in good condition. Fairways awful. Rough, ok. Aprons around greens bad, sand traps terrible, marmot holes everywhere. Not sure if there sprinkler system needs repairs. Dry in some spots, soaked in others. And no driving range..... Makes me wonder if the course is for sale!! Lastly, the Marshall today, Don, was hovering around our group for a few holes. Our pace of play was good. Never held up the group behind us. Weren't misbehaving. We made it clear he was making us uptight. Didn't seem to matter. Came close to completely ruining our day. Won't be back!

Lakeview has officially become my favorite golf course—hands down. I’ve played in some incredible places, including Hilton Head, but nothing has stuck with me the way this course has. The layout is thoughtful, the views are unbeatable, and the atmosphere is exactly what you want from a day out on the course. The 15th hole in particular blew me away. I genuinely enjoyed it more than any hole I played at Hilton Head. There’s just something special about it—the challenge, the scenery, the way it plays. It’s the kind of hole you think about long after the round is over. If you're golfing in the Reno area, Lakeview is a must. Already looking forward to the next round.

We came on a short golf trip to celebrate Fathers Day. It wasn't easy even though I chose the same course for two days. However, the course was so beautiful and the mountains and hazards were properly placed that it was fun regardless of the score. We joined men from Reno both days and they were all friendly and fun. I'm sure your memories of Reno will be so good.
