Enger Park Golf Course

Duluth, Minnesota, USANorthern Minnesota

Enger Park Golf Course offers a distinctive 18-hole municipal round set among Duluth's rolling hills and sweeping Lake Superior views. Its balanced challenge and natural terrain create a memorable experience well suited for golfers across skill levels.

Course Overview

Enger Park Golf Course offers an 18-hole public layout that invites players to engage with a challenging yet approachable golfing experience amid Duluth's unique topography. Situated at 1801 W Skyline Pkwy, this municipal course offers sweeping views over Lake Superior, with a hilly terrain that commands strategic shot-making and steady club selection. Unlike flat parkland courses, Enger Park's rolling fairways and undulating greens create dynamic elevation changes that will test golfers’ control and accuracy without overwhelming less experienced players.

The course's design blends natural contours with fairway corridors lined by mature trees, lending both beauty and strategic obstacles. It rewards well-placed drives and punishes errant shots with uneven lies across its uneven turf. While some reviewers have noted that maintenance has room for improvement—particularly in fairway conditions and greens health—recent management changes show a commitment to steady course upkeep, enhancing playability and overall enjoyment.

Enger Park’s setting on Duluth’s elevated Skyline Parkway affords enduring panoramic views that form a memorable backdrop to every round. The atmosphere often carries the fresh scent of pine and the cool breeze off Lake Superior, which can influence club choice, especially when gusts sweep through the higher openings. This interaction with natural elements makes for an engaging round that pushes players of varying skill levels to engage thoughtfully with the course.

Amenities on site include well-maintained rental carts and a friendly staff ready to assist both beginners and regulars. Walking the course is encouraged, allowing golfers to fully absorb the expansive vistas and subtle terrain shifts. Practical advice for visitors includes preparing for variable footing, especially after wet weather, and planning enough time to enjoy the relaxed but spirited pace of play.

Enger Park Golf Course ultimately serves as a solid municipal option with enough challenge to satisfy competitive players while remaining accessible for newcomers. Its distinctive hills and open views capture an authentic Minnesota golf experience that remains inviting through all seasons.

Signed my son up for classes this year. He's loving it and his skills are progressing nicely! I've already encountered a few others to join for the next session.

The course was fun to play. I liked the character and enjoyment of the course being hilly. That being said...the greens were in really rough shape with sparse if any grass and discolored. Speed of the greens was good. Also the poor fairways were pretty beat up and brown as well as the ground being extremely hard in places. Needless to say the place needs some rain badly!

It’s a municipal course, so you know what to expect. I called to book a twilight tee time. They don’t offer twilight. No big deal. It had rained a ton the days leading up to the tee time so I called day of and asked if it was wet/check on conditions. The person told me the front was dry but the back was wet. When I arrived I said I wanted to do 9 and confirmed that I was starting on hole 1. The younger person ringing me in said yes that’s fine. I proceed to hole 1 and was quickly told that they were starting on 10th whole. I explained I wanted to stay dry, but was told to go to 10. The “ranger” told me he golfed it that morning but it was not as bad as expected. Well, it was soggy. Too soggy. Surprised they allowed carts. Tee box quality was ok, what you may expect from a muni. I didn’t expect heavy machinery construction on hole 11. Can’t beat the views of this course!!

Under new management. Healthy grass, well maintained carts, fair prices. Overall, it's a great day of golfing any time of the season. Could use a little more organization around clubhouse amenities. The website for scheduling Tee times is easy to navigate. Not sure if walk ons are available, but im sure if you walk up to the Pro, they will let you know. Staff is friendly and helpful. Prices seem the same as Nemadji.

$50 for nine holes on a Sunday night is a little ridiculous Especially when the driving range is closed early on Sundays, so can’t even warm up. Otherwise, the course is pretty good I would rate higher if it had better prices
