Course Overview
Chestnut Valley Golf Course presents an authentic Northern Michigan golf experience just minutes from Harbor Springs. This 18-hole layout, designed by local golf legend Larry Mancour, strikes a balance between challenge and approachability, appealing to both novice players and seasoned golfers seeking a serene setting. Tree-lined fairways frame each hole, creating natural corridors that demand precision off the tee while offering gentle slopes that reward thoughtful shot placement. The course’s conditioning reflects careful attention, with well-maintained greens delivering consistent speed and subtle breaks that test putting skills without overwhelming pace.
Set against a backdrop of towering pines and hardwoods, the landscape whispers the quiet calm of Northern Michigan. Early morning rounds here bring the fresh scent of pine mingled with the soft rustle of leaves, while afternoon breezes offer a welcome test to players’ swing tempo. The layout stays true to its region, blending straightforward strategy with moments that call for creativity, such as the tight doglegs and narrower landing areas that command respect but never invite frustration.
Amenities enhance the overall experience. The clubhouse, built in rich log-home style, radiates warm Midwestern hospitality and provides a comfortable retreat after a round. Food enthusiasts will find Birdies, the on-site restaurant managed by local culinary operators, a compelling reason to linger; its expansive deck views stretch across the course, inviting players to relax with quality fare while watching others navigate the greens.
Chestnut Valley supports golfers who prefer walking, with clear pathways and manageable elevation changes. Carts are available, but many appreciate the intimacy walking brings to this quiet course. Located conveniently off 1875 Club House Dr, Chestnut Valley offers accessibility without sacrificing its peaceful character, making it a standout destination for those exploring Northwest Michigan.
Whether you are visiting for a casual round or to sharpen your game amid picturesque surroundings, Chestnut Valley demonstrates how a regional course can deliver both challenge and charm with warmth and professionalism. Nice course thats good for a beginner or advanced golfer. Easiegreen's, with several tight fairways. Pricey for what you get, but their league is a great way to go.

Chestnut Valley is a true Northern Michigan hidden gem located just a few short miles from Boyne Highlands. Designed by Michigan professional golf legend Larry Mancour, the course has truly come into its own with the newest ownership and management. Tree lined fairways, premiere conditions and one of the quietest golf courses you will ever play. Beautiful log home style clubhouse screams "Pure Michigan". Now that the Rusty Saw restaurant folks are operating "Birdies" restaurant at the golf course it is a food destination as well with stunning views of the course from the restaurant, bar and deck.

I felt the cost matched the course. First time there fun course loved the straight long holes bordered with trees typical northern Mich golf. First 3 holes on back 9 were a little dry but after that your back in green and tree lined faraways. Fast greens. Nice course hidden away from the big guys. Staff, cart support, and bar very good and comfortable feeling. We had a nice round of golf.

Golf at Chestnut is always great. You don't get the scenic beauty of this course for this price anywhere else. The new addition of Birdie's Tavern is a huge bonus. If you're in the area, get out for a beautiful round of golf and some dinner!
