Fort Collins, Colorado, USANorthern Colorado

Southridge Golf Course offers a practical, approachable 18-hole public layout in Fort Collins, Colorado. Its urban setting and balanced design provide an inviting option for golfers of all abilities seeking a straightforward round close to the city.

Course Overview

Southridge Golf Course stands as a distinctive public layout situated in the heart of Fort Collins, Colorado. Offering 18 holes of golf that weave through an urban setting, this course presents an intriguing challenge for golfers across skill levels. The mid-1980s design reflects a straightforward yet engaging style with an emphasis on playability, making it approachable for beginners while still providing strategic elements that interest more experienced players.

The setting is defined more by its proximity to neighborhoods and cityscape than by sweeping natural vistas, lending Southridge a unique character as an accessible municipal gem. Fairways run alongside residential areas and pockets of natural vegetation, presenting a subtly varied landscape. Players will find that wind can occasionally influence shot-making, adding an unpredictable element especially on the open holes.

While not a resort or private club, Southridge is a community staple, favored for quick rounds and skill honing. The course yardage stays moderate, inviting a steady pace of play supplemented by straightforward greens that reward precision rather than power. Though some areas have seen wear, especially on putting surfaces, the layout’s design still encourages thoughtful strategy and shot variety.

Amenities include a pro shop that supports golfers with basic equipment and range balls, and a welcoming atmosphere that suits casual play, leagues, and local tournaments. Walking the course is common, though the urban environment suggests appropriate footwear to handle mixed turf conditions and occasional muddy spots. For those planning a visit, early mornings and late afternoons offer the most pleasant playing conditions, blending softer light and cooler temperatures.

Southridge is notable less for grand landscaping and more for its role as an accessible, no-frills golf option in Fort Collins. It invites players to experience golf stripped to its fundamentals, emphasizing round-to-round enjoyment and development of core skills. Whether you seek a relaxed outing or a measuring stick for your game, Southridge provides a grounded golf experience that fits within a vibrant, evolving city environment.

It's a mid '80s Muni. Some fun holes, but it's also limited by being in the middle of town and in the middle of the neighborhood. I feel like it should be cheaper than what the city charges, but also enjoy playing here and have been coming back year after Year.

This course is poorly managed. Despite spending a large amount of money on a redesign, the result is unappealing. To cut water usage, the course has been neglected—grass and weeds are now overgrown, making the course difficult to play. The superintendent is rude.

Pro shop employees were EXTREMELY rude I asked to pay for my round and he gave a snotty look, then after our round I went and payed cash for a bucket of range balls but the guy too my money and refused to give me my change back that he owed me. I thought he would give me the amount of balls for the money he wouldn’t give me back but no. I have see many other reviews of similar things but there has been no change.

On the shorter side, but really fun layout that requires some creativity. UPDATE June 2025: used to be favorite FoCo course, but now almost impossible to even get a tee time. Course is not really in great shape. And once you get on course, rounds take forever. Played last week and after an hour was waiting on 4th tee box to tee off. And not a marshall anywhere to move things along. No way it should take an hour to play 3 holes.

Great golf course to bring players of all abilities. In our group we had anywhere from scratch to plays 2 times a year. And fun was had by all until some got to the 18th. What a tough hole that was! In great shape as well

Whoever cuts their grass needs to learn some things. Balded mud areas on the greens, giant clumps of grass all over the course... Honestly it wasn't a good 18 holes with all the mud holes and grass like that. Kind of a huge bummer because the course layout is interesting and fun.
