Pole Creek Golf Club

Tabernash, Colorado, USANorthern Colorado Rockies

Pole Creek Golf Club in Tabernash, Colorado, offers a compelling mountain golf experience across three distinct nine-hole courses. This semi-private facility combines alpine terrain, panoramic views, and thoughtful course design to create a setting that challenges and rewards golfers of varying skill levels.

Course Overview

Pole Creek Golf Club unfolds across the rugged landscapes of Tabernash, Colorado, offering an invigorating mountain golf experience that balances natural beauty with strategic challenge. This semi-private 27-hole facility is arranged into three distinct nine-hole courses - the Creek, the Ridge, and the Meadow - each presenting unique terrain and style within a spectacular alpine setting. The course layout harnesses the elevation changes and open vistas of the Rockies, blending wide fairways with tightly guarded greens and subtle bunkering that comes alive in the shifting mountain light.

Players encounter a course that rewards thoughtful club selection and course management. The Ridge nine challenges with uphill doglegs and rolling fairways framed by native pines, while the Meadow offers a test of precision, with water hazards and uneven ground that prompt tactical approaches. The Creek nine, by contrast, softly weaves through natural wetlands and meadows, creating a gentler face to the game, yet no less engrossing. Overall, Pole Creek remains approachable to intermediate golfers while providing enough complexity to engage low handicappers seeking to sharpen their skills.

The mountain air and panoramic views are constant companions, heightening the sensory experience as the scent of pine and earth meld with the sound of rustling aspen leaves. Wildlife sightings are common, with occasional glimpses of deer or foxes adding a living backdrop to the game. With thoughtfully maintained greens and fairways, the course maintains excellent playing conditions through the spring, summer, and early fall seasons.

Beyond the course itself, facilities include a modern clubhouse with dining and a full-service pro shop, plus well-appointed practice areas featuring a driving range, chipping green, and putting surfaces. Walking is welcome on the well-tended paths, though a sturdy pair of shoes is advisable given the elevation and occasional uneven terrain.

Pole Creek Golf Club offers a refreshing blend of mountain golf and solid course design that invites players to immerse themselves in the sport amid the crisp Colorado outdoors. Whether aiming for a casual round or focused practice, its varied layouts and thoughtful routing provide a memorable experience that encourages return visits throughout the golfing season.

Course Highlights

The course's three nine-hole segments—Creek, Ridge, and Meadow—each showcase distinctive mountain themes, from water-lined fairways to elevated tees. Signature holes include Meadow's challenging par-5 with a double dogleg and water hazard, demanding precise shot placement. Wildlife sightings and fresh alpine scents enhance the sensory experience.

Colorados best kept secret. Amazing views and challenging course. 4/5 stars because our cart ran out of battery on the 16th at twilight, which ended our round. Heard they might get new carts for the upcoming season.

I have played here twice now. This is my favorite course In the winter park/granby area. The ridge course is a really fun 9 holes. Great views all around this course. If you wait until after 2pm they charge you 9hole rate for a full 18. Still plenty of time to get In the full 18. Great practice facilities and beautiful clubhouse. Highly recommend!!

What a wonderful day my wife and I had. We live in Bennett Colorado, and the day we traveled to pole Creek, the Denver daytime temp was 99°+ and the Mountain temp was in the low eighties. This was one of the reasons we chose to play here. All reviews seemed to be good to great. So we booked it and decided to make a day of it. We left our home at 9 am with traffic in Denver and up I70 and Highway 40 we arrived at the course right around 11:30am. We got to the course a bit early for a 2 12pm tee time, but with construction in multiple areas of both highways, I figured it would be better to give myself time. This was great because we were able to go to the restaurant and get a nice lunch, and also gave us sufficient time to warm up on the driving range/ chipping area/ putting green. Pole Creek is a 27-hole course with 3 individual 9-hole courses. We got to play the Ridge and the Medow. Beautiful views everywhere tou looked. We saw a Deer on the Driving range, a fox around hole 6 on the ridge. On our second nine (meadow), it rained for about 10 minutes and was great it really made the wonderful fresh mountain air come to life with a new pine smell and a great fresh earth smell. I found to be what I thought was the most difficult hole on either 9. #7 on Meadow. This is a par 5 with a double dog leg to the left. In your first shot, you have to carry a large fairway bunker with a 190 carry with a 234 run out area downhill. (I suggest you don't try to cut the corner on the left side. Instead, play to either carry the bunker or right of the bunker.) Next, your second shot depends on how far you can carry your ball. The shot is uphill, and you have a water hazard to carry. I played a layup as I tried to cut the corner and bounced off the trees into the rough near the bunker. I played to the fairway, just short of the pond. Still had 205 yards to the center of the green with a big uphill shot. Took a 3 iron and put it on the green. I will definitely recommend this course to everyone, and it will definitely go down as some of my best golfing memories. It's worth the drive and the money. Best total golf experience we have ever had. Thank you to the Pole Creek staff and greens crew. You guys are doing a great job. Can't wait to come back and play the Ranch in a future trip.
