The Links at Everline

Olympic Valley, California, USANorthern California

Set against the striking mountain scenery of Olympic Valley, The Links at Everline is an 18-hole public course that tests precision and course management. With tight fairways woven through towering sugar pines and a natural setting that embraces sustainability, it offers a unique alpine golf experience for discerning players.

Course Overview

Perched within the alpine embrace of Olympic Valley, The Links at Everline offers an 18-hole mountain course that challenges both the strategic mind and the athletic swing. This public layout demands thoughtful club selection, with tightly contoured fairways winding through the tall sugar pines and rugged terrain that define the region. Players are met by sharp elevation changes and narrow approach shots, where precision often outweighs power. The course’s natural setting showcases dramatic vistas, ranging from forest-draped slopes to glimpses of the surrounding high country, providing a vivid backdrop that keeps every hole distinct.

Maintenance at The Links reflects its commitment to environmental sensitivity, embracing a minimal use of fertilizers and fungicides to protect the fragile mountain ecosystem. This stewardship brings natural variability to turf conditions, especially on the greens, which can present uneven putting surfaces in certain seasons. Golfers who approach the course with patience and respect for the landscape will find the experience rewarding despite these challenges.

Walkers will appreciate the thoughtfully designed wooden boardwalks that link several holes, easing navigation over rocky or damp ground. Smart route planning is advisable to maximize flow and maintain energy, especially given limited cart availability and the terrain’s demands. The venue’s staff is recognized for warm hospitality, adding a personal touch to the mountain golf adventure.

Visitors should prepare for variable course conditions related to the short alpine growing season. Early season rounds might expose recovering fairways or sand traps under repair, while summer play generally offers cleaner surfaces and crisper lies. This course appeals primarily to golfers comfortable with a mountain-style test - those seeking a memorable backdrop combined with a heightened focus on shot-making and course management.

Whether aiming to improve control under pressure or simply immerse in a high-elevation round with sweeping views, The Links at Everline invites players to experience golf that balances nature’s raw character with a thoughtful, walkable layout uncommon in the region.

Course Highlights

The course is distinguished by its mountain-style layout that blends steep elevation changes with tight, strategic fairways. Boardwalks link several holes over irregular terrain, and the natural landscape features mature sugar pines and panoramic views. The Links at Everline maintains ecological focus through limited chemical use, influencing course conditions and demanding adaptive play.

Don’t waste your time or money. The worst golf course I have ever seen. Driving range is considered a mat with a net to hit into. The greens are not even playable as there is dead spots everywhere and putting becomes a joke. If I ever spend money here again it will be to buy the place so I can shut it down. Spend the extra money and go play a golf course not a goat ranch.

Don’t waste your money. I am being generous giving the course a single star. Greens are unplayable due to conditions, ground under repair. Driving range is a joke.

Beautiful course and phenomenal location. Don’t be dissuaded by other negative reviews. If you’re planning on playing here, simply make sure your expectations are set correctly. This is a beautiful mountain course with amazing vistas and towering sugar pines! The growing season for grass is short, and the course has made the decision to use minimal fertilizers and fungicides because of the ecological sensitivity of the mountain valley. As you can imagine this makes growing and maintaining the course super difficult. Despite those challenges, I think the designer and the staff have done an amazing job of laying out and maintaining the course. Greens rolled great and I loved the cool boardwalks that connected many of the different holes. Great course and a great staff. If you’re in the area it’s definitely worth giving this place a shot!

The course is still recovering from the winter season. The fairways are in decent shape, the tee boxes are a bit rough and the sand traps are not currently playable. Some greens are in decent shape while others are in a state of repair. This course has tight fairways so smart club selection off the tee’s is crucial. Beautiful views! Would I play the course again…yes…but not at full price.
