The Links at Everline

Olympic Valley, California, USANorthern California

Set amidst the serene peaks of Olympic Valley, The Links at Everline offers an alpine 18-hole mountain course that challenges golfers with tight fairways and dynamic elevation. Sustainability-driven maintenance and dramatic natural surroundings create a golfing experience defined by strategy and fresh mountain air.

Course Overview

The Links at Everline presents an engaging golf experience high in the Sierra Nevada, where mountain air and towering sugar pines shape a course that demands both precision and patience. This 18-hole layout, set at over 6,600 yards with a par of 72, embraces its alpine environment with narrow fairways weaving through dense forests, rocky outcrops, and natural wetlands. The result is a course that rewards strategic shot-making more than sheer length. Players must navigate tight corridors guarded by mature trees and occasional bunkers that serve as both challenge and compass.

Unlike conventional parkland or links-style courses, The Links at Everline offers a mountain golf encounter with all the complexities of elevation changes and variable wind patterns common to high-altitude settings. Those winds test swing adjustments and tempo, while the crisp air and scenic views across the valley provide a fresh and invigorating atmosphere. The course’s considerable elevation shifts—left intact rather than heavily reshaped—ask golfers to carefully choose clubs and control trajectory.

Though some of the turf and greens experience the limitations imposed by the fragile mountain ecosystem, maintenance efforts focus on sustainability and minimizing environmental impact, which can affect conditions seasonally. Visitors are encouraged to set realistic expectations and embrace the unique character that this means for playability. Walking is the preferred way to engage fully with the course’s contours, and its layout offers enough variety to challenge all skill levels without overwhelming less experienced golfers.

Amenities include a well-equipped clubhouse providing hospitality with authentic mountain charm, along with helpful staff who prioritize the player’s experience. Boardwalks connect many holes, blending access with minimal disturbance to the terrain. Located just off Squaw Creek Road in Olympic Valley, The Links at Everline stands as a memorable stop for those seeking a distinct alternative to valley or coastal golf, especially for players eager to test their game against nature’s subtleties rather than sheer turf perfection.

The course is still recovering from the winter season. The fairways are in decent shape, the tee boxes are a bit rough and the sand traps are not currently playable. Some greens are in decent shape while others are in a state of repair. This course has tight fairways so smart club selection off the tee’s is crucial. Beautiful views! Would I play the course again…yes…but not at full price.

Don’t waste your time or money. The worst golf course I have ever seen. Driving range is considered a mat with a net to hit into. The greens are not even playable as there is dead spots everywhere and putting becomes a joke. If I ever spend money here again it will be to buy the place so I can shut it down. Spend the extra money and go play a golf course not a goat ranch.

Don’t waste your money. I am being generous giving the course a single star. Greens are unplayable due to conditions, ground under repair. Driving range is a joke.

Beautiful course and phenomenal location. Don’t be dissuaded by other negative reviews. If you’re planning on playing here, simply make sure your expectations are set correctly. This is a beautiful mountain course with amazing vistas and towering sugar pines! The growing season for grass is short, and the course has made the decision to use minimal fertilizers and fungicides because of the ecological sensitivity of the mountain valley. As you can imagine this makes growing and maintaining the course super difficult. Despite those challenges, I think the designer and the staff have done an amazing job of laying out and maintaining the course. Greens rolled great and I loved the cool boardwalks that connected many of the different holes. Great course and a great staff. If you’re in the area it’s definitely worth giving this place a shot!
