Pine Mountain Lake Golf Course
Pine Mountain Lake Golf Course offers an 18-hole, par-70 mountain experience marked by elevation changes and scenic foothill views. This thoughtfully maintained course challenges players with fast fairways and true greens, complemented by modern amenities and a welcoming Northern California setting.
Course Overview
Perched in the rolling foothills near Groveland, California, Pine Mountain Lake Golf Course offers a compelling blend of mountain challenge and scenic beauty. This 18-hole, par-70 layout stretches over a varied terrain that relies on elevation changes and natural contours to shape its character. Each hole presents a distinct test, with fast fairways framed by mature pines and oaks, and greens that demand precision putting. The course’s hilly profile means golfers must manage club selection carefully while tackling uphill approaches and downhill drives.
The surrounding Sierra Nevada foothills influence both the aesthetics and playability, providing sweeping views from the opening tee to the final green. Wildlife often appears around the course, adding a quiet companion to the round without disturbing the focus required on its tighter landing zones and tree-lined holes. The well-maintained fairways and smooth, true greens reflect dedicated stewardship, especially notable considering the challenges of the region’s seasonal rainfall patterns.
Pine Mountain Lake is accessible to a broad range of players, but the design rewards strategic thought particularly from low handicappers able to control ball flight and placement. Round length and elevation shifts require stamina and thoughtful pacing, making it an engaging course for players seeking to balance challenge with natural surroundings.
Amenities add to the overall experience. The practice facilities include a grass driving range with shaded mats and comfortable seating near a fully equipped snack bar, offering seasonal fare like clam chowder that enhances any visit. Recent upgrades to the golf carts, including USB charging ports, provide modern convenience for players. With a welcoming staff and proximity to Yosemite National Park, Pine Mountain Lake serves as an ideal stop for travelers and locals alike who appreciate a test of golf framed by Northern California’s rugged foothills.
Whether teeing off at dawn or enjoying a mid-afternoon round, Pine Mountain Lake blends terrain, scenery, and challenge into a rewarding outing that calls for a thoughtful tee-to-green approach and rewards those who respect the course’s natural rhythm.

Pine Mountain Lake is so cool. We went to the Beach, saw deer and turkey, stayed at an amazing airbnb, and enjoyed The Grill. Wish we could have stayed longer.

This is a gem in the foothills on the way to Yosemite. I have been playing here for 23 years and am still thrilled every time I tee off on the vista that is the number one tee. Mike and the staff have done an excellent job on the course, especially in the winter of 2020 with limited rain. The fairways are very fast and the greens fast but true. They replaced all the carts in 2019 with brand new ones with USB chargers. The snack shack is great with good dogs and sandwiches and hot soup in the winter. Had the clam chowder on Friday and it was fantastic. It's a hilly, challenging par 70 that will test any golfer and absolutely worth a visit from anywhere in Northern California.

I’ve been playing the course since 1976. It is without a doubt in the finest condition i have ever seen it. Stunningly beautiful course!! If you are not hitting straight could get you down a bit because lots of large trees but if you’re long and straight you could go low. A must play!

Nice practice range open to the public. Hit off the grass, but also enjoyed practice mats with overhead solar panel shade structure with comfy tables and chairs near a snack bar.
