Stone Ridge Golf Course

Prescott Valley, Arizona, USANorthern Arizona

Stone Ridge Golf Course in Prescott Valley offers an 18-hole challenge defined by stunning mountain views, significant elevation changes, and strategic blind shots. This public mountain-style layout demands precision and rewards golfers who combine careful shot selection with a steady hand on true, well-kept greens.

Course Overview

Stone Ridge Golf Course in Prescott Valley, Arizona, offers a distinct golf experience shaped by its dramatic mountain setting and thoughtfully crafted 18-hole layout. This public course challenges golfers with its significant elevation changes and strategically placed blind shots that demand precision and course management. Players encounter fairways that slice through rugged desert terrain, framed by panoramic views of the Prescott Valley and surrounding peaks. The course’s design moves fluidly across the landscape, rewarding those who approach each hole with calculated shots and a keen awareness of the terrain.

From the tee, golfers are engaged immediately by the diversity of routing, where uphill carries and downhill approaches test club selection and shot shape. The greens are well-maintained and demand firm, accurate putting, often guarded by bunkers that force thoughtful paths to each flag. The combination of elevation shifts and desert flora creates a playing environment that feels both invigorating and intimate, capturing the essence of Arizona golf.

Stone Ridge caters predominantly to golfers seeking a challenging game, with an emphasis on accuracy over brute strength. The course encourages players to consider every shot carefully, as errant drives can find themselves obscured by desert brush or deep terrain dips. Golfers of all abilities will find enjoyment here, though those with steady ball striking will particularly appreciate the strategic demands.

In addition to the course itself, Stone Ridge maintains a driving range, along with putting and chipping areas, providing ample practice opportunities before heading out. The staff are noted for friendly and accommodating service, enhancing the overall experience. While cart paths are present, walking is possible but requires good footwear due to the undulating landscape and desert conditions.

A round at Stone Ridge is as much a visual journey as it is a golfing challenge. The scenery unfolds with each hole, inviting players to engage both their skills and senses in a setting where the natural environment plays a pivotal role. Whether visiting during a tournament or for a casual round, this course rewards thoughtful play and leaves a lasting impression on those who meet its rugged character.

Course Highlights

The course is remarkable for its mountain desert layout with blind tee shots and major elevation shifts requiring precise distance control. Signature holes weave through natural rock formations and native vegetation, offering expansive views across Prescott Valley. The well-maintained practice facilities and challenging green complexes emphasize strategy and shot-making over length.

First time playing Stoneridge in Prescott Valley. I enjoyed the course alot. It's a but difficult if you're not finding fairways but that's gold in a nutshell. Course was in good shape, cart oath only due to recent storms. I do feel they were over cautious as it could have been driven on with the exception of a few spots. Thus to me is laziness on the course management perspective and judging by the lack of marshaling they really don't care. Many were driving on the course. We however, did not. My 8,000 steps would agree. I loved the layout, the views, the greens and other than the silly 18th, a great course to play. BTW, it says to aim at the pole off the teecat 18, but their ain't no pole 🤷.. the ProShop employee was a bit grumpy, the player service employee was awesome. All in all I loved the round, would definitely return.

I am not a very good golfer. I have a high handicap. I am endlessly frustrated. That said, I thoroughly enjoy this course. The cart path ride is worth the greenfield alone. I find it hilly, beautiful and loads of fun. It has always been well kept and has many blind approaches. Be prepared to lose balls. I've heard that experienced players can find it easy. For schlubs like me, the scenery and the challenge make playing here great fun.

Five star course located in Prescott Valley. Staff very friendly and accomdating. Everyone from proshop to outside services to ranger kept stating choose your box wisely as there were alot of blind tee shots and major elevation changes, making a first time playing a little difficult to navigate. They did give us a free course booklet in the proshop with yardage and hole-by-hole details, which greatly improved an understanding on many holes. Had a great time and experience! We were in the area for a weekend golf tournament at another course and decided to check this course out. We will definitely make this a stop every year now, as it was in great condition and challenging! Pace of play was good, we were one of the first groups off in the morning. When we made the turn, we saw most of the play on this course begins midday. Driving range, practice putting and chipping areas well kept. Had a private feel to the course. Must bring your A game as most shots were target golf, from tee box to fairway to green. Superb job Stone Ridge!!!

What a treat this one of a kind gem was to play. Not for the faint hearted, but if you hit it straight you will be rewarded. Beautiful views everywhere, I feel like we had a jeep tour included with the course design that takes you thru some amazing sights as you wind your way around the mountain.. Being from the NW it was awesome to get to a place with this type of design, Greens were challenging and true. Obvious care goes into maintaining the gorgeous fairways and bunkers. See you next year !!!
