Forest Highlands Meadow Course

Flagstaff, Arizona, USANorthern Arizona

Forest Highlands Meadow Course in Flagstaff, Arizona, presents an 18-hole parkland layout featuring wide fairways and impeccably fast greens. Its open meadows contrast the surrounding pines, offering a strategic yet accessible golfing experience framed by Arizona’s high country scenery.

Course Overview

Located in the cool pines of Flagstaff, Arizona, Forest Highlands Meadow Course offers an 18-hole private layout that blends a parkland style with sweeping open meadows and pockets of towering ponderosa pines. This course provides a serene alternative to its sister Canyon Course, emphasizing wider fairways and a more forgiving routing, without sacrificing challenge. The Meadow’s greens stand out as a distinctive element - notoriously smooth and fast - demanding precision on approach shots and deft touch with the putter.

As you navigate the course, the natural contours of the terrain come alive. Elevation changes are subtle but meaningful, crafting a rhythm that invites strategic decision-making rather than brute force. The finishing holes, particularly the uphill ninth and eighteenth, elevate the drama with their testing elevations and well-guarded greens. These final stretches focus on shot placement and course management, offering a fitting conclusion to a round where patience often proves rewarded.

Set against the backdrop of Northern Arizona’s unique landscape, the Meadow Course’s setting combines open grassy stretches with mature trees, allowing sunlight to play across the fairways while occasional breezes test your swing tempo. While the layout favors intermediate and advanced players who appreciate shot variety, the generous fairways ensure the course remains accessible to a broad range of handicaps.

Forest Highlands is a private club, preserving a quiet, exclusive atmosphere that enhances the golfing experience. Both the Meadow and Canyon clubhouse facilities provide comfortable spaces to relax before or after a round, with quality dining options that reflect a thoughtful approach to hospitality.

For visitors planning a round, walking is encouraged to fully engage with the course’s subtle elevation shifts and the natural surroundings. Proper footwear is advised to handle the pine needle-strewn fairways and firm putting surfaces. Flying your own ball into the brisk Flagstaff breeze requires focus, but rewards with stunning views and memorable golf moments. This course remains a refined choice for players seeking an elevated, yet approachable test within Arizona’s high country.

Course Highlights

The Meadow Course stands out with its smooth, fast greens which demand precision, and its open layout juxtaposed against mature pines. The uphill and challenging ninth and eighteenth holes serve as memorable bookends. Its design offers strategic shot options and playability for various skill sets while highlighting the natural high country landscape.

Private golf course and club, but if you know a member, get on with them and play a round. The fairways and greens are impeccable. There’s no doubt why this course is listed in the top 10 courses in Arizona. Plus the lunch and dinner menus at both the meadows clubhouse and the canyons clubhouse were very well prepared.

The meadows course was in better shape than the canyons course. It is easier with wider fairways. But the greens are more challenging. They were rolling super smooth and fast! The greens were absolutely amazing. The two finishing holes of #9 and #18 are all up hill and challenging. Loved the course and would definitely come back!

Haven’t had much of any rain in Flagstaff and the Meadow and Canyon courses are in pristine condition. Fairways are perfect and greens are amazing (and fast). Two of the most beautiful courses around! Bring your camera! Cuddos to the superintendent and staff for these amazing courses.

Forest Highlands Golf Club is home to two top-quality courses: the Canyon and Meadow. The Canyon course is widely regarded as one of Arizona's finest golf courses and an excellent quality tree-lined parkland layout. However, Forest Highlands is a private club, with both the Canyon and Meadow courses generally playable only by members and their invited guests.

We attended a wedding, the service was wonderful, scenery was lovely, the music bounced around the room perfectly, my husband loved his food. I found mine to be a little bland, but I was immediately helped out with that. All in all, a fantastic experience! I highly reccomend it.
