Continental Golf Club

Flagstaff, Arizona, USANorthern Arizona

Continental Golf Club stands as Flagstaff’s premier public mountain-style course, blending forested elevation changes with a thoughtful 18-hole layout. Offering a balanced challenge accessible to a wide range of skill levels, it features well-conditioned greens and strategic holes framed by towering pines.

Course Overview

Set amid the cool, forested landscape of Flagstaff, Arizona, Continental Golf Club offers a distinctive 18-hole layout that challenges golfers while rewarding thoughtful play. As the sole public course in the area, it provides an accessible yet engaging experience for a broad spectrum of players seeking a mountain-style round marked by natural surroundings and strategic variety.

The track weaves through tall Ponderosa pines and scattered junipers, demanding accuracy off the tee and patience around well-maintained greens. Elevation shifts add subtle complexity, with uphill and downhill shots testing club selection and distance control. The fairways are generally generous, though trees frame many holes, ready to penalize stray shots. A mix of risk-and-reward holes encourages players to weigh aggression against caution, making each round mentally stimulating without becoming prohibitive.

Greens stand out for their quality, presenting smooth surfaces that hold approach shots well. Bunkers guard several key putting surfaces, requiring precision to avoid costly mistakes. While some tee boxes and fairways show signs of wear, especially under peak seasonal conditions, the course’s overall playability remains intact. Continental Golf Club’s mountain backdrop creates a quiet setting that blends natural beauty with straightforward organization.

Although the course does not feature an on-site driving range, a nearby practice facility provides a solid warm-up option before teeing off. The clubhouse hosts a modest snack bar where players can refuel without straying far from the course. Golf carts are available, but walking is encouraged for those seeking immersion in the tranquil environment. The staff’s attentiveness adds to the welcoming atmosphere, proving a strong asset for visitors and locals alike.

Continental Golf Club is particularly suited to players who appreciate a course that balances scenic appeal with accessible challenges. From weekend duffers to more experienced competitors, the course offers an engaging test without overwhelming novices. For those planning a visit to Flagstaff, this course offers an opportunity to connect with Arizona’s unique high-altitude terrain through a round that is as rewarding as it is approachable.

Course Highlights

Continental Golf Club features tree-lined fairways through forested mountain terrain, smooth putting surfaces, and a handful of holes that invite strategic risk-taking. While portions of the course show signs of wear, the overall design offers a rewarding balance of challenge and playability. The proximity to Flagstaff's downtown and the serene forest setting create a unique golf experience in Northern Arizona.

As the only public golf course in Flagstaff I was kind of disappointed. Especially with the words country Club attached to it. The layout of the golf course was really well done. I got paired up with a local couple and they showed me around since I was from out of town. Fairways and some of the tee boxes need some serious TLC. All of the greens are in really good shape. Couple of risk reward holes. Lots of trees around the area that you have to be careful not to hit into. There is not a driving range on the premises. It's about a block away. Go hit their first and then come to the golf course. You cannot take the cart to the driving range. Nice snack shop in snack bar on premises. There was a car girl working her way around the entire course all afternoon. I would just say that price-wise for a weekend it's overpriced at $105 with the condition that it's in. Would I recommend anybody playing it? Yes, it's a fun course and if you just overlooked some of the blemishes it's a lot of fun to play. But be sure to play on a weekday

0 stars was not available. We were guests at the resort when this happened. They were very snobby unwelcoming. We tried to ask about what was available during our stay they rolled their eyes at us when we asked for their menu they kept looking at us like we were going to steal their menu which was not very good and over priced. We knew we were not welcome within 5 minutes which is why we left faster than it took to find a parking spot. We will never stay here again.

Found my distance finder. Thank you. It was raining and hailing so hard that we left quickly. Will finish the round next year.

LOVE this course, and the service is always top notch! My Big Blue (aka son Thomas) plays for CentHS in Peoria, AZ and they had their end of year tourney with a bunch of amazing other HS teams. Me, momma, little sis and his amazing gal came up to watch and thoroughly enjoyed the weekend. The course accommodations were amazing, course was pristine, weather was, absolutely beautiful, and best of all had the blessing to watch my boy not just compete but enjoy his moments and memories…that’s what life’s truest gifts are! The laughter, the struggle, the discipline, and the fun with the others out there working smart and hard. The other families to, just amazing to talk with and get to know. If you’re ever needing an amazing place to golf, want beauty in so many ways, book your stay and your play right here! Golf and wilderness, truly breathtaking and seriously serene. So even if your game is a bit “off” you’ll be right on in the right place for an amazing day of play! If there were seven starts, they would get eight from me! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⛳️💯☝️😊

The course is pretty well kept up. There’s beautiful views along the way. We even saw about 15 deer on the back nine. The best thing though was the amazing pretzels with cheese we picked up at the turn! They were buttery and salty. The cheese sauce had a fun kick to it as well. We will be back just for those!
