Aspen Valley Golf Club
Aspen Valley Golf Club offers an 18-hole championship course set among Flagstaff’s pine forests, combining strategic play with approachable design. Players encounter undulating greens and subtle elevation shifts framed by towering evergreens, perfect for those seeking a mountain golf challenge with welcoming playability.
Course Overview
Aspen Valley Golf Club presents an 18-hole championship layout that challenges players while revealing the natural beauty of Flagstaff's pine-fringed landscape. This semi-private course weaves through gentle elevations and mature evergreens, creating a striking setting that blends parkland elements with the crisp mountain air typical of Northern Arizona. While elevation changes subtly test shot-making skills, generous fairways and well-placed bunkers ensure the course remains approachable for mid- and high-handicap players, without sacrificing strategic depth for lower handicaps.
The course stretches to just over 6,700 yards with a par of 72, offering a balanced mix of long, strategic holes and tighter approaches framed by towering pines. Undulating greens demand careful attention to pace and line, rewarding precision over power. Many holes offer glimpses of distant peaks, adding to the sense of isolation and calm. This setting not only engages the golfer’s tactical mind but invites moments of quiet reflection amid striking natural scenery.
Aspen Valley’s practice facilities complement the on-course experience with a well-maintained driving range, putting green, and short-game area, enabling players to fine-tune every aspect of their game before teeing off. The clubhouse acts as a comfortable retreat with panoramic views across the course and offers dining that combines casual comfort with quality fare, ideal after a round or during a social event.
Walkers find the course rewarding and manageable, with thoughtfully positioned resting areas that take advantage of gentle breezes and the surrounding pines. While carts are available, the firm, well-groomed turf and shaded walkways encourage a more engaged experience on foot.
Aspen Valley Golf Club answers the call of golfers seeking a refined mountain golf experience, where thoughtful design meets natural grandeur. Whether playing a friendly round or competing in club events, the course strikes a balance of challenge and enjoyment, all within the unique climate and ambiance Flagstaff provides.
Course Highlights
Highlights include mature ponderosa pines lining fairways, subtle elevation changes that test shot selection, and well-protected undulating greens. We attended a catered event here last weekend and I just wanted to share what I experienced concerning a bartender. Even though it was an open bar my husband wanted to buy a couple of nice bottles for the table. I chose William Hill which was priced at $35.00. I was charged on my credit card for $45.00 and when I inquired about the total he said it included tax and tip. I did not question at the time. When we ordered the second bottle I was paying cash. The same bartender took my 100 dollar bill in the back and brought me out $51.00. I was confused, as was he, and asked how much did I charge you last time. I told him $45.00. He apologized and gave me $4.00. When asked for a receipt he said they don't give any for cash purchases. I found both transactions to be suspicious and unethical. I sure hope this is an isolated incident and not a continued practice.

$130 weekend guest fee?! Outrageous, not worth it. This is not Forest Highlands or Pine Canyon by any stretch!
