Course Overview

Cherokee Springs Golf Club presents an engaging 18-hole public layout located in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, offering players a balanced challenge embedded in a gently rolling landscape. The course combines a parkland style with natural water hazards, requiring thoughtful shot placement and strategic carries over several ponds. Wide fairways provide an inviting target for intermediate and advancing golfers alike, while well-maintained greens encourage precise approach play. The terrain's subtle undulations and the occasional elevation change reward course management rather than power alone.

Upon arrival, golfers are greeted by a modern clubhouse featuring a casual grill area where freshly prepared burgers and sandwiches complement the outdoor experience. The driving range benefits from recent improvements, including upgraded mats and expanded hitting bays, allowing players to warm up thoroughly before stepping onto the course.

Cherokee Springs demands attention from the tee boxes, especially where water comes into play. Several holes feature carries that test nerve and judgment, making club selection critical. Bunkers are strategically placed to guard key landing areas and greens, adding complexity without overwhelming less experienced players. Greens are true and receptive, with subtle breaks that invite a careful read and smooth putting stroke.

Smart golf carts equipped with GPS systems provide helpful course guidance, though some users have noted that cart restrictions require attention and occasional retreat from prohibited areas. Golfers planning to walk will find the course manageable, but sturdy footwear is recommended due to varied footing and occasional dry patches in fairways during drier spells.

Cherokee Springs is accessible to all skill levels seeking tactical golf amid striking natural surroundings. The course's condition has notably improved over recent seasons, reflecting investment in turf care and infrastructure. Visitors will appreciate the friendly staff and well-run facility that delivers consistent playability. For those preparing a visit, planning around warmer months and carrying extra balls is advisable, particularly to negotiate the water hazards confidently.

Cherokee Springs Golf Club offers a rewarding golfing experience with an approachable yet strategic design that shapes memorable rounds for members and guests alike.

Appears unassuming at first, but is a challenging 18-hole public course. We had an afternoon tee on 9/14/24 and it was a HOT one. The course is in good condition all around. Offer of free range balls to drive prior to play. A little dry in fairway with quite a few uncared for divots, but greens true and fair. Bring a few balls with you as there is some water that you will need to carry. A recommendation would be for better marking for GPS carts. We had to back out of areas that we thought we should have been allowed to be in.

Very nice golf course owned by the Cherokee Casino nearby. I've played it several times over the past 3 years. It's in better shape now (Sept 2024) than I have ever seen it. They have spent some money updating the driving range and improved the greens. Clubhouse is attractive and has a nice grill area for excellent hamburgers, fries and sandwiches. I have heard unconfirmed reports that the course will close for 1 year following this season to rebuild the greens.

Beautiful golf course. Lots of space, you won't lose a ball easily. Nice setup of the holes, we only walked the first nine. Buggies modern and clean and maintenance of the track is also excellent.

Excellent course and upkeep! Great employees and service indoors is limited due to Covid for the time being but food and drinks are available . The “smart carts” are pretty awesome helping your game . Took me a few minutes to figure out. Pretty awesome 👏

Fun course, It appears no one fixes their ball marks but worth the greens fee.
