Cherokee Springs Golf Club

Tahlequah, Oklahoma, USANortheastern Oklahoma

Cherokee Springs Golf Club offers an 18-hole public layout combining parkland charm with strategic water hazards. With improved facilities and a welcoming clubhouse, it challenges golfers to balance precision and distance in a scenic Oklahoma setting.

Course Overview

Cherokee Springs Golf Club, located in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, presents a compelling 18-hole public layout that balances playability with a tactical challenge. Visitors find the course approachable for a wide range of skill levels, though the water hazards scattered across several holes demand thoughtful shot placement. The course’s terrain features gently rolling fairways with subtle elevation changes, framed by mature trees and pockets of native vegetation, offering both visual appeal and strategic diversity throughout the round.

The design leans toward a parkland style, where tree-lined corridors and well-placed bunkers shape scoring opportunities. While the fairways can show some dryness during the warmer months, especially in late summer, the greens typically hold a steady pace and true roll, rewarding precise approach shots. Driving range facilities have seen recent improvements, enhancing warm-up sessions, and "smart carts" equipped with GPS systems lend a modern edge to navigation, though occasional clarity in cart path marking could improve the overall experience.

Cherokee Springs extends more than golf, with an inviting clubhouse featuring a grill area known for its satisfying menu that includes hearty sandwiches and burgers, perfect for refueling after play. The staff consistently earns praise for friendly service and attentiveness, adding a welcoming atmosphere despite some present indoor service limitations.

For players planning their visit, walking the course is encouraged and entirely feasible; the layout is forgiving enough to handle on foot, though appropriate footwear is advisable given some uneven terrain. The course does feature natural water elements that come into play on several holes, so bring an ample supply of balls and prepare for shots that test carry distance and accuracy.

Overall, Cherokee Springs Golf Club is a strong option for golfers seeking a well-maintained, practical challenge in a hospitable setting near the Cherokee Casino. Its blend of accessible design and strategic demands creates a rewarding round where thoughtful play is the best way forward.

Appears unassuming at first, but is a challenging 18-hole public course. We had an afternoon tee on 9/14/24 and it was a HOT one. The course is in good condition all around. Offer of free range balls to drive prior to play. A little dry in fairway with quite a few uncared for divots, but greens true and fair. Bring a few balls with you as there is some water that you will need to carry. A recommendation would be for better marking for GPS carts. We had to back out of areas that we thought we should have been allowed to be in.

Very nice golf course owned by the Cherokee Casino nearby. I've played it several times over the past 3 years. It's in better shape now (Sept 2024) than I have ever seen it. They have spent some money updating the driving range and improved the greens. Clubhouse is attractive and has a nice grill area for excellent hamburgers, fries and sandwiches. I have heard unconfirmed reports that the course will close for 1 year following this season to rebuild the greens.

Excellent course and upkeep! Great employees and service indoors is limited due to Covid for the time being but food and drinks are available . The “smart carts” are pretty awesome helping your game . Took me a few minutes to figure out. Pretty awesome 👏

Fun course, It appears no one fixes their ball marks but worth the greens fee.

Beautiful golf course. Lots of space, you won't lose a ball easily. Nice setup of the holes, we only walked the first nine. Buggies modern and clean and maintenance of the track is also excellent.
