Kingsport, Tennessee, USANortheast Tennessee

Cattails at MeadowView Golf Course offers a balanced 18-hole parkland layout distinguished by natural water features and strategic bunkering. Its variety of play encourages golfers of all skill levels to engage with thoughtful shot-making across gently rolling terrain.

Course Overview

Cattails at MeadowView Golf Course offers an engaging 18-hole public layout that balances challenge with accessibility amid the natural beauty of Kingsport, Tennessee. Designed to appeal to a broad range of golfers, the course features a diverse routing that weaves through gentle rolling terrain lined with native grasses and water hazards. This parkland-style layout rewards strategic play, where well-placed drives set up approach shots to smooth, fast greens guarded by thoughtfully positioned bunkers and protecting marshy edges.

Each hole at Cattails presents its own character, encouraging players to engage both swing and strategy. Fairways vary in width, allowing golfers to find a comfortable challenge whether they’re single-digit handicaps or newcomers seeking enjoyable pace and flow. The course’s contours and subtle elevation changes invite creativity around the greens, making short-game shots as compelling as the drives.

Scenery here is understated but genuine, with cypress-lined ponds, cattail marshes, and clusters of mature hardwoods framing the play. These natural elements shape not only the visual experience but also affect shot selection, especially when winds filter through the valley and test tempo on full-length shots. Despite its quiet setting, Cattails ensures practical amenities including a well-maintained practice green and a friendly staff renowned for their welcoming approach.

Golfers planning a visit will find a layout that encourages walking when conditions allow; solid paths accompany most fairways, making your journey across the course manageable even for those covering the distance on foot. Cart rentals are available, though many prefer the intimacy and focus that walking brings here. While the absence of a driving range is noted, the overall playing surfaces and course conditioning maintain a high standard.

Whether seeking a competitive round or a relaxed day in the game, Cattails at MeadowView extends an approachable yet rewarding test. The experience leans on natural features and thoughtful design rather than extravagant touches, delivering a golf outing grounded in steady challenge and quiet reflection.

Course Highlights

The course’s signature elements include water-lined fairways and marshy cypress stands that shape several approach shots, requiring careful club selection. Greens are known for their smoothness and subtle breaks, offering a true putting surface all year. While the layout is approachable, hazards and varied topography provide a satisfying test for players seeking strategic depth.

Great course and always love playing it, but Rusty, the ranger, was nothing but rude to our group while we were up there this weekend

Really nice course. Lots of variety and challenge on the holes, but nothing too punishing, even for someone who hasn’t golfed in a couple decades like myself. The staff at the pro shop and on the course (the starters) were extremely helpful and friendly - I really appreciated how welcoming and accommodating they were to someone who had been away from the game for so long. I also just had some nice chats with them! Other golfers on the course also friendly and respectful.

Fun course, good greens. Really pleasant experience overall. Everything is in good condition on the course and the staff is amazing. There were a few areas around the greens that need some work, but it seems that will be fixed judging by the condition of the rest of the course. Wish there was a driving range, but the practice green is very nice.

Very nice course. The greens had been punched but still were quick and true. It was a little expensive for weekend play, but I would still recommend it to everyone.
