The Golf Club of Bristol

Bristol, Tennessee, USANortheast Tennessee

The Golf Club of Bristol offers an 18-hole parkland course known for its approachable yet strategically demanding layout. Set amid rolling hardwood-lined fairways with zoysia turf, it welcomes golfers of all abilities to enjoy a traditional Tennessee golf experience complemented by family-friendly amenities and a modern fitness facility.

Course Overview

The Golf Club of Bristol presents a classic parkland layout that stretches across the rolling terrain of northeastern Tennessee. Comprising 18 holes, this course offers golfers a blend of approachable fairways and subtly challenging greens, making it suitable for a range of skill levels. The fairways, primarily lined with mature hardwoods, provide a scenic backdrop while demanding thoughtful shot placement. Zoysia grass fairways contribute to consistent lies, though occasional thin patches present natural tests, reminding players that adaptation is part of the experience here.

The course’s design leverages gentle elevation changes and strategic bunkering to guide the round’s rhythm, with several holes rewarding accuracy off the tee and creative approaches. The greens are known for their subtle slopes and firmness, encouraging precision in short-game shots. While not relentlessly punishing, the course rewards smart course management and offers enough variety to keep rounds engaging.

Beyond the playing surface, The Golf Club of Bristol offers facilities that reflect its evolution. Although a traditional clubhouse is currently absent, the presence of a large pool provides a family-friendly amenity, and a modern fitness center equipped with extensive gym equipment enhances post-round recovery options. These features hint at a facility balancing golf with community wellness and recreation.

Visitors will find the course’s layout supports walking comfortably, with manageable distances between holes and pathways that meander through a landscape defined by native trees and gentle hills. For those planning a visit, bringing footwear suitable for occasional uneven lies is advisable, given the course’s subtle variations in turf density.

While it lacks some modern refinements of newer venues, The Golf Club of Bristol delivers an authentic play experience that appeals to golfers seeking a traditional parkland environment. The staff’s friendly and welcoming nature adds to the feeling of familiarity and warmth. This course holds value both as a local gem and a practical venue for golfers looking to enjoy varied shots without overwhelming difficulty.

Course Highlights

The layout emphasizes parkland styling with hardwood tree-lined fairways and strategic bunkers guarding the greens. Grew up playing on the course, and its no where near what it was in the 90s. Also no clubhouse, no real structure. Its too bad, because the Country Club was a great place, with lots of good memories. I live on the course, and never play it anymore.

Pretty good course. However, I would not rate it as a must play. Some challenging holes and some fun to play. The fairways are not plush and the greens were nothing to write home about. This place is nicer than most local courses but definitely not a top tier course.

This course is a sad ghost of what it once was. This was once a magnificent course and now they sell off fairways to build glorified double wides that look like that have 1/2 inch paver bricks glued to them and will fall apart with a strong breeze. It’s a very sad time for this course.

No clubhouse currently so no shirts, hats or gear available for purchase... Which come on new ownership, get it together!!! Besides that the good course has a great layout, tough sloping greens, bunkers are in good shape and the zoysia fairways for the most part we're perfect but here and there a few thin tight lies.... Huge pool great for the family and kiddos.... The new facility has a huge gym that's loaded with equipment
