Diamond Links Golf Course

Catlettsburg, Kentucky, USANortheast Kentucky

Diamond Links Golf Course in Catlettsburg, Kentucky, delivers an 18-hole parkland test with dramatic elevation changes and a strategic layout. Its signature par-3 10th from an elevated deck offers a unique challenge amid a setting favored for playability and scenic variety.

Course Overview

Diamond Links Golf Course presents a distinctive golfing challenge set amid the rolling terrain of northeastern Kentucky. Located in Catlettsburg, this 18-hole layout embraces a parkland style, with elevated tees and sharply contoured fairways that demand precision and strategic shot-making. The course plays to a par of 72 over approximately 6,600 yards, offering an engaging test for players across skill levels while rewarding thoughtful risk management.

From the first tee, golfers encounter a landscape where natural elevation changes shape each hole’s character. Mature trees line the fairways, funneling drives but also providing shelter from winds that sweep through the region. The greens, known for their subtle breaks and varied slopes, invite careful reading and finesse on approach shots. Several holes boast impressive vantage points; most notable is the signature 10th hole, a par 3 that requires a tee shot from an elevated deck down to a well-protected green. This hole stands out for its visual drama and strategic challenge.

Playability is a defining trait of Diamond Links. The design encourages aggressive lines off the tee, yet prudence is rewarded with safer routes that keep scores manageable. Golfers seeking to test their full bag will find every club useful, while those looking to navigate the course intelligently will appreciate the balance between challenge and fairness.

The course experience extends beyond the fairways with a welcoming club atmosphere. The pro shop staff are noted for their friendliness and helpfulness, enhancing the visit from start to finish. Walking the course is common though the terrain requires good conditioning and proper footwear due to frequent elevation shifts.

Diamond Links offers a memorable round in a peaceful setting, blending a competitive spirit with natural beauty. For golfers traveling through or living nearby, it stands as a rewarding destination that pushes skills without overwhelming players. Planning a visit here means preparing for a course that respects the game’s traditions while providing a distinct and spirited competitive stage.

Course Highlights

The course’s notable elements include its dramatic elevation changes, particularly the elevated tee on the 10th hole, which demands a precise tee shot to a green guarded by bunkers. The fairways vary in width, offering strategic choices on each hole. The mature tree-lined corridors create a parkland atmosphere while providing ample shelter and defining each hole’s character.

Nice challenging course. Will have you using every club in your bag. The staff and the owner were very nice. Came from NY for work and played here both of our trips.

This course is a short and daring course, every hole is drivable but with risks. If you layup off the tee every hole the course is very gettable. The greens are slow, but the course is well manicured. Walking though isn't for the faint of heart, and is a great calf workout! The scenery is beautiful and very quiet. The only bad thing I can say about this place is there is very limited parking so carpooling is the best Idea.

This place is amazing came from Michigan and played 36 today, the staff in the pro shop are great very friendly and helpful. The course is breathtaking with views for days in all directions, grass was long due too heavy rains but the second round it was a major difference cut down. The 10th hole is really cool you hit off a deck down quite a ways on a par 3.

The only reason for the 2 was the ranger was super friendly. The course was in terrible condition, lost 4 balls in the fairway, no BS. Cart was junk, greens were aweful. Prolly wont go back.
