Canterbury Green Golf Course

Fort Wayne, Indiana, USANortheast Indiana

Canterbury Green Golf Course in Fort Wayne offers a compact, approachable 9-hole public layout well suited for beginners and casual players. Its modest parkland design and accessible setting provide a relaxed golfing option, though course conditions vary and amenities remain limited.

Course Overview

Canterbury Green Golf Course offers a straightforward yet engaging round for golfers seeking a compact and accessible layout in Fort Wayne, Indiana. This 9-hole public course presents a modest challenge with short but thoughtfully designed holes geared mostly toward beginners and recreational players. Its parkland-style design features tree-lined fairways and a mix of modest bunkers that occasionally demand accuracy off the tee. The course’s manageable length encourages players to focus on shot placement and finesse rather than power.

The setting is predominantly suburban, framed by gentle greenery but lacking expansive vistas or dramatic elevation changes common to more prominent courses. Despite this, Canterbury Green’s layout invites a relaxed pace of play reinforced by open sight lines and approachable hole configurations. The absence of a driving range, putting green, or chipping area means warm-up options are limited, yet the course remains an inviting place for a casual round or an introduction to golf fundamentals.

Overall conditioning of the course has fluctuated, with some reports noting overgrown rough and variable maintenance on tee boxes, fairways, and greens. Players should prepare for patchy turf conditions and slower green speeds under certain circumstances. Golf carts are available and in good repair, making navigation effortless for those who prefer to ride. Walking is feasible but less common given the compact layout and occasional tall grass bordering the holes.

Canterbury Green’s accessibility and friendly atmosphere appeal most to beginners, families, and locals seeking a convenient golf escape without the pressures of a championship test. The course’s charm lies in its simplicity and community feel rather than in pristine conditioning or architectural distinction. For those new to the game or looking for a quick round, Canterbury Green Golf Course provides a practical and unpretentious golf experience in the Fort Wayne area.

Players considering a visit should note limited amenities and modest course upkeep. Bringing extra balls and tempering expectations for course conditions will enhance enjoyment. Positioned minutes from central Fort Wayne, the course doubles as a convenient recreational option rather than a destination golfing venue.

Course Highlights

Short, accessible holes framed by mature trees provide a player-friendly parkland experience. While maintenance varies, the course includes several well-positioned bunkers and approachable green complexes that encourage strategic play. Golf carts are available and in good condition, supporting a smooth pace of play.

Let me start by saying.. Wow! Lady at the front desk was very forthcoming with information on the course she told us that they have nobody to mow only maintenance crew around. Most all the tee boxes are overgrown and in need of a lot of work. They did mow the fairways but outside of that it's all ankle high or better grass. We found a handful of golf balls just in the High Grass because you can't find your ball. If you're looking for a par 3 course then this is it for you. No driving range no putting green no chipping green. The Highlight is the golf carts are in great shape.

They could change the name to Canterbury Brown due to that being the primary color of the “greens”. They did have the unique challenge of combining rough in the bunkers. The could greatly improve this course by much more water on the full sun greens a clearing the weeds out of the bunkers.

This is the worst course I have ever been to. I used the golf BOGO coupon and it cost me $14. I felt ripped off. The greens were like putting on soaking wet shag carpet, except for one, which was so hard, my buddy's 50 yard chip bounced like 6' in the air off the front edge of a completely dead green and rolled off the back side after bouncing several more times. One of the cart paths was closed because they let it completely overgrow. The rough was so long, we gave up looking for our own balls. On any other course, these would be findable, but here, no chance. Others had this experience as well, given the dozen balls we found in the rough on our play through. The bunkers were, comically, filed with weeds. Not a single bunker was cared for. There were also foot tall patches of weeds on the tee boxes. I wouldn't recommend coming to the course as of June 2025. They need to do a lot of work to make this a playable course. If you want to play a short course, go to Schoaff. It's like 2 minutes away

The course itself has a nice design. The problem is the lack of care for the greens, tee boxes, and fairways along with the lack of mowing the rough down to the correct height. The staff are friendly and I know they care, but the lack of funding for the course by the complex itself is what keeps this course from being way better.

This is a review for the actual apartments at Canterbury Green, not the Golf Course as stated above. I came here from out of state & was hoping the transition would be easier than it ended up being. I do have to say that everyone is slowly but surely getting on board & getting things done, unlike our very 1st night we got here which wasn’t anything like I was told it would be. It was really disappointing because you may dot your i’s & cross your t’s but it doesn’t necessarily mean other people do too. All of it could’ve been avoided though & that is what I didn’t like about the initial move in experience. The people have all been very nice including the maintenance workers & office staff, etc. My kitchen faucet handles are backwards which makes it awkward to turn them on, or off & then I use an unnecessary amount of water because of it. The furnace filter has got to be just jammed pack full of dust, lint & old pet hair, since it blows all around the entire apartment when the furnace blower is on. I’ve asked for those things to be done too but I am still waiting…I am looking forward to all the amenities & have tried out the tanning bed once & they had new bulbs in it! The work out area is absolutely gorgeous & I believe is newer! The office & club house all seem very nice & you can rent out the party/meeting rooms to accommodate parties & gatherings. I do love my carport, and I’m so glad I got it with my apartment! Looking forward to pool time, & golf when weather gets warmer!

It was ok, the greens were rather in great condition or in terrible condition and the same for tee boxes, other than the tee boxes and greens the holes were really fun with tough roughs and at least one sand trap on each hole making it a decently hard course.

The condition of the course is horrible. It is the worst I have ever experienced since the course was built. They need to sell the course off and let someone bring it back to life.
