Course Overview

Rabun County Golf Club, located just south of Clayton, Georgia, presents a refreshing 9-hole layout that challenges players without overwhelming them. The course offers a casual yet engaging golfing experience ideal for a broad range of skill levels, from beginners seeking a friendly introduction to the game to more experienced golfers looking for a quick, enjoyable round. Its compact design measures under 3,000 yards from the white tees, but the strategic placement of hazards ensures that thoughtful shot-making remains key.

Set amidst the gentle foothills of northeast Georgia, the course's terrain is modestly rolling, lending subtle elevation changes that add character without imposing steep climbs. Well-kept fairways sweep across open areas bordered by pockets of mature hardwoods, creating a calm environment where swings can focus on trajectory and distance rather than navigating dense rough. The greens are known for their consistent speed and small dimensions, rewarding precision and encouraging intelligent approaches. In particular, the third hole stands out as the most demanding, with its green access requiring an uphill effort and careful club selection to avoid trouble lurking near the edges.

Players appreciate the relaxed atmosphere, supported by courteous staff who contribute to an inviting environment. The simple practice facilities, including a modest driving range, provide ample opportunity to warm up before teeing off. Since Rabun County Golf Club functions as a public course, visitors often enjoy flexible access with no mandatory tee times, perfect for spontaneous rounds or weekend outings.

Those planning a visit should prepare for walking, as the course emphasizes a traditional pace of play and offers mostly gentle slopes suited to those wearing comfortable, supportive footwear. The absence of cart paths and the overall terrain encourage a walking rhythm that complements the peaceful setting. Whether you're chasing personal bests or just savoring time outdoors, Rabun County Golf Club presents a straightforward test with welcoming charm in the mountain foothills.

Greens are good shape, but small. Great price for 18 holes. We play the whites first, then the yellow on next round. #3 Really needs steps up to green! Nice simple driving range!

Great place to play. Fun but a little challenging on some holes. Always a good place to play and you don't have to have a tee time

Short but sweet. 3 is the toughest hole around. Don't let the yardage fool you, trouble lurks everywhere but down the middle. Picture is #9
