St. Augustine Shores Golf Club

St. Augustine, Florida, USANortheast Florida

St. Augustine Shores Golf Club is a public 18-hole course offering approachable coastal golf on gently rolling terrain. With strategic bunkers and modest water hazards, the course suits a wide range of abilities, making it a solid choice for players seeking affordable yet engaging golf near historic St. Augustine.

Course Overview

Located along the coastal edges of St. Augustine, Florida, St. Augustine Shores Golf Club is a public 18-hole course that offers a refreshing blend of challenge and accessibility set against a subtropical backdrop. The layout incorporates subtle water hazards and strategic bunkering that reward thoughtful shot placement without overwhelming the player. While the course does not conform to traditional resort extravagance, it provides solid value and a distinctly welcoming atmosphere for golfers exploring the region.

The course flows through gently rolling terrain marked by native grasses, mature trees, and occasional glimpses of the Intracoastal Waterway. Fairways present a mix of wider launch zones and tighter corridors that invite a moderate tactical approach, making it approachable for mid- and high-handicap players while still offering enough nuance to engage more experienced golfers. Greens can vary in speed and break, demanding keen attention on putts, although their conditions occasionally fluctuate depending on maintenance cycles.

Walkers will find this layout manageable thanks to its relatively flat profile and short distances between holes. The clubhouse serves as a straightforward hub for check-in and light refreshments but does not offer extensive amenities seen at larger resorts. Friendly staff contribute to an easygoing feel, enhancing the pace of play and overall experience.

St. Augustine Shores emphasizes sound fundamentals over flair. With tee boxes spanning multiple yardages, players can tailor their rounds to their comfort levels, often finding enjoyable footing whether playing quick nine-hole stretches or full 18. Water hazards come into play modestly, contributing to strategic decisions without overly penalizing less consistent shots.

For those seeking an affordable round with coastal Florida warmth and a course that tests shape rather than sheer length, St. Augustine Shores delivers a genuine, no-frills golf outing. Ideal for locals and visitors aiming to combine sightseeing with accessible golf, it stands ready to welcome a steady flow of players while quietly reflecting the character of its setting on the Atlantic fringe.

Course Highlights

Fairly flat coastal layout with water hazards integrated into select holes, moderate bunkering shaping strategy, multiple tee boxes accommodating various skill levels, and views hinting at nearby Intracoastal Waterway.

The course was in great shape. Pace of play wasn't bad at all. The greens were in AMAZING shape! Best greens I've seen at a public course! Staff is super friendly!

Son and I visited over the weekend and played a quick 9 holes. Arrived early to maybe get started early to beat the heat and the staff was super nice and got us on without a problem. Course was in good shape and we enjoyed the course layout. Not easy but for the average player it is a perfect fit.

Turn the music down, especially Saturday. That singer is just awful. The music carries through the neighborhood and I can hear that garbage inside my home, which is a violation of the noise ordinance. Anyway it's obvious you have no respect for your neighbors. This a golf club or a dive bar?

Local course that I’ve always gone to for a cheap round, but the more you play the more you notice how run down and unkept the course can be at times. Don’t get me wrong, they have some of the friendliest staff of any course I have ever been to, but the course itself is rough. Good luck putting haha. Each green has 3-4 sandbox sized traps of sand throughout it.

This course was great and cheap! I saw reviews complaining about the greens, but the greens were totally fine imo. There were a few spots where they had resodded, and the fairways probably need a little TLC, but you can’t beat the price. If I had a complaint, it would probably be that the course plays short from the yellows and especially the reds. Basically a par 3 course from there. Lots of water near the blues and whites though, so not a great middle option. Had a lot of fun playing it.

BINGO on Monday nights. Payouts $100 game on at least 6 to 7 ea and free food/drinks on other games. Really fun. $5 for sheet of 3 per game. All money is returned to winners. 10 games. No other cost. Food and drinks for purchase at reasonable prices. This is best Bingo game and we have been to many. It is at the golf course restaurant. Come & help boost the payout.
