Hyde Park Golf Club presents a classic parkland 18-hole layout offering a balanced blend of challenge and playability. Known for its generous fairways, strategic bunkering, and improving course conditions, this Jacksonville staple welcomes golfers seeking a solid round near the city.

Course Overview

The Hyde Park Golf Club in Jacksonville, Florida, offers an 18-hole golf experience grounded in tradition and steady development. This public course stretches just over 6,600 yards from the back tees, playing to a par of 72. Hyde Park stands out as a challenging yet approachable layout that rewards precise shot-making while accommodating players across a broad skill spectrum.

The course’s design reflects a classic parkland style, featuring generous fairways and a mix of mature trees that frame each hole. This greenery provides both visual appeal and strategic complexity, creating compelling angles off the tee and around the greens. Play here demands thoughtful navigation rather than brute force, with natural elevation shifts and well-positioned bunkers acting as thoughtful obstacles. The greens, known to be moderately fast and subtly contoured, test putting accuracy and touch.

Longtime members and recent visitors have noted ongoing improvements to the course’s condition, especially on the greens and fairways. While the tee boxes sometimes show signs of wear, improvements in drainage and infrastructure keep the layout playable year-round, even after heavy rain. Walkers will find Hyde Park inviting, with relatively gentle terrain and a layout that encourages a steady pace. Players should come prepared with sturdy shoes, as some areas can soften during wet spells.

The clubhouse, currently undergoing renovations, aims to enhance the overall experience for golfers and guests alike. Practice facilities include a driving range that consistently offers grass tees, a rarity valued by players seeking a true warm-up. Staff commitment to upkeep and service is evident, though players are encouraged to plan for possible short waits and crowding during peak hours.

Hyde Park Golf Club remains a welcoming destination for local enthusiasts and visitors looking for a solid round just minutes from downtown Jacksonville. The course’s blend of classic golf elements and ongoing care promises a round that balances challenge with enjoyment, all within a setting defined by steady evolution.

Nice course . Nice layout. Fairways are very generous. A new club house is being built. Some of the tee boxes could use a litte work but overall good course to check out. Greens are challenging

First time back in 6 years. The course is still in rough shape and the conditions have not changed since I was a teen coming here. The driving range specifically is in horrendous shape. Hitting on pure grass feed and dirt did not make for a great return to Hyde Park. I will once again continue to take my business and practice to a better club.

Had a great time this morning walking 18 holes with my brother-in-law and another friend. The course condition is really coming along nicely. The fairways and especially the greens have shown huge improvements. Hopefully the tee boxes will follow suit and improve too. Definitely a great value overall. Great to see all the progress with the renovations. From the clubhouse to the masons out there improving the drainage, bridges, etc., you can see signs of progress everywhere - and that's great for this place. So thankful it hasn't turned into a community of homes. Billy Maxwell and Chris Blocker would be proud of your efforts! Thanks for a fun outing. We WILL be back.

Things have changed at my "home course". I don't care about the clubhouse being under renovation for the 5th straight year, or the general conditions of the course. But the attitude of the pro shop staff set the tone for my round: there to collect $$$ and nothing else. New ownership has new rules about club rentals and bringing kids with you. This ain't Augusta...relax. It's Hyde Park. A local fun and easy place to find and play. It should feel like it. Won't be going back.

I truly enjoy this course. The conditions are better than most courses and continue to improve. The staff is awesome. They continue to improve the course and ammenities. And you always hit from grass on the range. My only issue is mainly with the groups. They need to learn to let groups play through and not hold up the entire course. We have been caught behind different groups several times that had 2 or 3 holes open in front of them and they never let us or anyone else play through. Maybe a marshall on the course could help.

Still under a little construction, but the greens are great, fairways decent, worth it for sure.
