The staff at Saxon Woods is amazing - especially Mary. While at the driving range, I was overcome with heat and felt like I was going to pass out. I called the pro shop and Mary arrived is less than 2 minutes. She was truly a life saver. The other staff with her were also helpful. THANK YOU, Mary!!

*2024 update- Saxon Woods is in great shape and wonderful to play. Get out there while it still sunny. Saxon Woods is a beautiful Westchester Public golf course and restaurant. The fairways and greens are in great shape. The course is difficult enough for very good players but also lenient for newer players. A fun and scenic course, with great prices on discounted websites like GolfNow and TeeOff. The restaurant offers typical pub dining in a nice outside environment. Played my first round here this year (4/2023). The course is in great shape and wonderful to play.

Good well kept public course. Besides the beautiful course, there is a range, restaurant and shop at the main building. Parking is good size, so funding a spot is not hard. From the course you can also access the Saxon Woods Park that surrounds the east side.

Played Saxon yesterday. What a treat. So easy to get to. Convenient parking. From the parkway, you’re on the tee in five minutes. The course rewards accuracy as the woods and red/white stakes are very much in play. The greens are forgiving. Bunkers are well above avg for a public course. Looking forward to going back in the middle of the season.

I’ll start this off by saying I’ve played almost all the public courses in Westchester as well as a couple of the private ones. This year was the first time coming here and before even teeing off things turned south. My buddies got there before me and were waiting by the tee box. I check in and they text me to just come to the tee. I’m walking over and the starter literally screams at me to stop. Asks me where I’m going and I say my tee time is next and I’m going to the box. He proceeds to lay into me that I need to address him first and that singles have no standing on the course. This is about 30 seconds of him huffing before I try to calmly say I’m with the group already waiting. His face looks like he wants to fight me on the spot, but he simply says, “fine, go”. No apology, nothing. One of my friends sees this and afterwards asks me what happened. I explain and they say that’s weird because the starter didn’t give them any attitude. My friends tee off and I walk up to the tee which is right in front of the starter’s box and he’s just eyeing me down the entire time. The course itself was in great shape, but the pace was extremely slow. 5 hour round on a weekday afternoon tee. This was early in the season so iget there’s a rush of demand. The ranger came by to apologize and we asked him about the starter. He said he might just be having a bad day but it seemed like he knew the starter has had issues in the past. Heading home we went by the starter again to drop off the carts and he stared me down again the entire time (A good minute). It was very uncomfortable and as a POC (surrounded by exactly 0 POC that day) I couldn’t help feeling uncomfortable. My group 100% noticed the glaring and pushed us to leave rather than going to the bar. All in all nothing terrible happened and I don’t believe it was racially charged. However, the starter’s attitude from the start was incredibly unprofessional and borderline hostile. Feels more like a power trip but I certainly won’t be playing here again while they employ someone like that at a client facing position.

Disappointing experience! I had a terrible experience at Saxon Woods. The staff was rude and unwelcoming, which set the tone for the day. The pace of play was extremely slow, with long waits at every hole. On top of that, the course was poorly maintained—fairways and greens were in bad shape. Worst course in Westchester or Fairfield County.
