Valhalla Resort and Golf

Helen, Georgia, USANorth Georgia

Valhalla Resort and Golf in Helen, Georgia, delivers a challenging yet fair 18-hole layout known for its tight fairways, natural elevation changes, and strategic demands. A true test of accuracy and course management, it appeals to golfers seeking a price-conscious round with a rugged mountain setting.

Course Overview

Valhalla Resort and Golf offers an engaging 18-hole experience set amid the rolling hills and mature woodlands of Helen, Georgia. This public course challenges players with narrow fairways that demand precision off the tee, while subtle elevation changes invite thoughtful club selection throughout each round. The layout skillfully weaves through a natural landscape, where dense tree lines frame many holes and occasionally brush close enough to whisper warnings to straying golf balls. A steady uphill climb is typical, often requiring players to smartly adjust distances, adding a layer of strategic complexity even for seasoned golfers.

While the course’s conditioning can vary, with some tee boxes and greens sections undergoing necessary restoration and improvement, the fairways generally provide solid footing and consistent lies. Sand traps, though sometimes in need of attention, add risk-reward elements that test course management on approaches. Players should plan ahead to bring extra balls, as the tighter landing zones can be unforgiving, especially for those unfamiliar with the course’s topography.

Cart paths have recently been upgraded, allowing comfortable rides between holes. However, the absence of water stations on the course means golfers should come prepared with ample hydration, particularly during Georgia’s warmer months. The clubhouse offers a relaxed atmosphere with friendly staff who create a welcoming environment, rounding out a visit that feels both approachable and rewarding.

Valhalla Resort and Golf caters to those seeking a solid challenge without the intensity of resort crowds or private club restrictions. It provides a fair test that encourages golfers to sharpen their accuracy and course management skills. Whether tackling its winding fairways for the first time or returning to enjoy its rugged charm, this course stands as a worthy destination within the North Georgia golf scene.

Course Highlights

The course is distinguished by tight fairways lined with mature trees and noticeable elevation shifts that subtly influence shot selection. While sand traps and greens may show signs of course wear, the natural mountain landscape shapes a compelling and strategic round. Upgraded cart paths and the absence of water stations require forward planning. Friendly staff and a modest clubhouse enhance the overall experience.

What a beautiful golf course! If you are in the North Georgia area and haven't played here, you should. Bring a few extra golf balls as this is a challenging course. The staff is very friendly and they have a great clubhouse!

Beautiful course lots of nature. Very difficult narrow fairways. Lost almost all my balls lol. Was disappointed to see the houses starting to get built on this pristine nature. One house was literally 5 ft off the green with tacky yard signs.

Went there for the first time ( 6/14/25) day after a crap ton of rain. Course was CPO.understandably. Some t boxes need to be rebuilt, greens need some love as well, not all but...... The sand traps are bad, ( not enough sand) if you find yourself in one just pull it out. I will say that the topography it self makes you wan to come back regardless. Cart paths look to be new which is nice. Staff was cool. Carts have gps with yardage.NO water on course. SO if its hot bring a cooler with drinks. Make sure you bring some extra balls. It has some tight fairway entries. If you expect super fast super smooth greens , this isn't your spot. I on the other hand will be going back for sure as its very close to our rv resort which we stay at often.as it was laid back, a great layout and challenging. And a very fair price.

So there’s a couple holes on the course that are in little rough shape, no grass. The fairways were in nice shape. The tee boxes had grass too. The bad ones were roped off for repair. The secret to this course is your usually hitting up hill you just don't realize it. Club down one. Greens are slow and have plenty of break. Great price for sunday golf. You wont be disappointed.

This course is in awful shape. The $55 rate charged for 18 holes of golf is ridiculous, especially with the state of the course. The service at the course is good, but there is definitely room to improve the condition.
