Whitepath Golf Club

Ellijay, Georgia, USANorth Georgia Mountains

Whitepath Golf Club invites golfers into the mountainous landscape of North Georgia with an 18-hole course that balances challenging elevation changes and accessible play. Known for vibrant seasonal colors and a terrain-driven layout, it offers a rewarding round for players seeking variety and natural beauty.

Course Overview

Whitepath Golf Club offers a distinctive mountain golf experience set in the rolling foothills of Ellijay, Georgia. This 18-hole, public-access layout carves its way through rugged terrain, where elevation changes challenge every shot and sweeping vistas reward every approach. Players of all levels will find something to enjoy here, from strategically placed tees easing the difficulty for higher handicaps to tight fairways and elevated greens that demand precision from more advanced golfers.

The course’s routing takes full advantage of the natural landscape. Fairways wind through dense forests and along ridgelines, with holes often requiring thoughtful club selection as slopes influence ball flight and stance. The greens are generally well-maintained and present subtle breaks that test putting finesse without overwhelming. Bunkers appear sparingly but with purpose, often guarding landing zones or the front edges of greens, lending both visual appeal and strategic depth.

Whitepath distinguishes itself as a place where the changing seasons add character to every round. Autumn brings radiant fall colors that dramatically enhance the scenery, making each hole feel almost cinematic. Even outside of the vibrant months, the clear mountain air and textured topography create a memorable setting that contrasts with the region’s flatter courses.

The clubhouse serves as a practical hub, offering a welcoming atmosphere for check-in and post-round relaxation. Although carts are available, many players appreciate the opportunity to walk on a course that respects the contours of the land, where climbing hills and navigating natural terrain become part of the game’s rhythm. Walking is encouraged but requires sturdy footwear to handle uneven paths and occasional inclines.

Overall, Whitepath Golf Club blends accessible playability with the invigorating challenge of mountain golf. It draws golfers seeking a change from traditional layouts, promising engaging shots and the satisfaction of connecting with a rugged environment that tests both skill and strategy.

Course Highlights

Whitepath Golf Club’s standout elements include pronounced elevation shifts across many holes that influence shot strategy, forest-lined fairways that frame the course with natural beauty, and elevated greens that reward thoughtful precision. The fall season highlights the course’s scenic value, with abundant fall foliage providing a dramatic backdrop for golf. The course’s mountain style challenges players to adapt to uneven lies and sudden changes in elevation, making club selection and shot execution critical throughout the round.

We really enjoyed our round at Whitepath. Kim at the front desk was amazing and very accommodating to setting up our tee time for a group of 4. Course was in great condition for the price you pay. Will definitely be back whenever I am back in the area!

By far one of the most scenic golf courses I’ve been to. Pace was ok, tee boxes were in decent playable shape. All the greens were fast and taken care of. During the 36 holes I played I only found a trap once, and that’s where I take a star off. Traps were hard pan. Very difficult to play out of. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Would definitely go again.

Great course, beautiful in the fall when we were here, best to make a tee time rather than to just show up. This course has alot of elevation which makes it a real fun course to play, especially for a flat lander like me.

Great course. Very hilly but super fun. The breeze flowing through the mountain gaps was quite refreshing. Staff was kind and courteous and very accommodating to our requests.
