Indigo Creek Golf Club
Indigo Creek Golf Club is an 18-hole course in Murrells Inlet that combines tight fairways and water features with a modest but approachable layout. Budget-conscious golfers will find a functional track framed by coastal pines, offering a relaxed alternative within the competitive Myrtle Beach golf scene.
Course Overview
Indigo Creek Golf Club, located in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, offers an 18-hole layout that challenges golfers seeking a budget-friendly experience close to the coast. Designed with the Myrtle Beach area’s characteristic humid climate in mind, the course presents a straightforward but compact design where the landscape’s natural contours shape tight fairways and greens. While the course leans more toward a development-phase facility than a sculpted championship test, it provides a playing field suitable for beginners and casual golfers looking to enjoy a round without high pressure or elevated fees.
The setting incorporates a mix of matured pines lining narrow corridors and water hazards that punctuate several holes. The course’s relatively small footprint means players will often encounter a sequence of holes that require accuracy off the tee more than distance. Bunkers and water are strategically placed to encourage thoughtful shot selection, particularly as the approach shots come into firm, often hard greens. These surfaces, in their current condition, can make putting a challenge, requiring a steady hand and careful judgment.
Players should prepare for potentially slow pace of play and moderate maintenance conditions, especially earlier in the season when turf recovery is still underway. The staff at Indigo Creek is known for friendly service and attempts to assist players throughout the round. The practice facilities are modest, offering limited warm-up options, so arriving with your short game prepared can enhance your experience.
Walking the course is possible and even encouraged, though golfers should come equipped with hydration due to the South Carolina humidity and wear stable footwear on occasionally uneven terrain. Indigo Creek honors a relaxed atmosphere but demands focus when negotiating holes with tight fairways and the occasional creek crossing.
This venue best fits players who prioritize affordability and a no-frills golf experience over pristine conditioning or expansive practice amenities. For those exploring Myrtle Beach courses and keeping an eye on budget, Indigo Creek represents a functional alternative with a view of coastal forest and a course length near 6,600 yards at par 72. Expect a round where planning and patience offer the best chance for enjoyment.
Course Highlights
The course is characterized by a compact layout incorporating tight fairways bordered by coastal pines and several small water hazards that require precision. Greens tend to be firm with varying speed, demanding accuracy on approach shots. The design rewards shot-making over sheer length, creating a manageable but engaging test for mid- to high-handicap players. While maintenance and conditioning fluctuates, the friendly staff and budget-friendly rates make this a practical choice for everyday golf in the Myrtle Beach vicinity.

Place is a goat path. I cannot say one good thing about the course. Our round took 5 hours and 20 minutes in addition to the absolutely horrendous conditions of the course. The staff was very friendly, but we didn’t pay to speak to friendly people. I’ve included a few pics of the fairways and around the greens. Really too bad because it has a lot of potential.

Played May 17 2024: First time playing in SC, if you're not used to humidity bring a TON of water. Course was in decent shape, had to move my ball to around to find a good spot to hit. Greens were a bit patchy but it's new to the season. The staff was amazing, guy grabbed our clubs and put them into our carts.

Course layout was great. However, the greens were in terrible shape! I should have taken pictures to post. It would have been a great experience with the price if the greens were better.

Booked tee time on GolfNow. Played May 15, 2025. We were looking for a 3 day golf class and recommended by golf school marketer that the pro here had high praises for working with couples. We made a tee time w plans to check out the training facility; not much of a range or practice area. Fairways need work. Several greens were probably 1/4 dirt.

It’s a lower level course in Myrtle. Price point is also lower, so you get what you pay for. Staff was friendly. Greens rolled well, but were very hard & not receptive at all. Tees & fairways were fine. Conditions just okay. 2 biggest issues were the layout felt cramped (as if 18 holes were crammed in to a small patch of land) & pace of play was slow. We quit after 12 holes as we were on pace fur a 5 hour round.

One of the worst golf courses in Myrtle Beach. Seen nicer cow pastures.

Course is in poor condition. Some green have bare, dirt spots, driving range closed. Bunkers are hard sand and standing water! Price is cheap. But should be cheaper considering the conditions.
