Course Overview

Eagle Nest Golf Club invites players to experience a distinctive blend of challenging golf and welcoming atmosphere just minutes from the coast in Little River, South Carolina. This 18-hole public course offers a layout designed to engage golfers of varying skill levels, balancing demanding shots with forgiving fairways. Set against gently rolling terrain, the course unfolds through well-maintained greens framed by water hazards and strategic bunkering that challenge both approach shots and course management.

The course’s design encourages a thoughtful pace of play, requiring players to navigate holes that reward precision over power. The closing stretch leaves a lasting impression, particularly the 18th hole – a memorable par 3 where water stretches across the fairway and bunkers protect the green, presenting an intimidating but fair test that can define a round.

Eagle Nest’s landscaping provides a mix of open vistas and pockets of mature trees, lending visual variety and subtle wind factors that add texture to the experience without overwhelming the player. The greens are generally receptive, though known to run on the slower side, allowing for a full range of shot shapes and putting strategies.

The course honors its roots through unique touches, including an iconic vintage Cadillac display that serves as a quiet nod to the visionary behind the course. Founded in 1971 by Dick Elliott, Eagle Nest Golf Club was conceived as an accessible golf destination, and it continues to retain that spirit by combining quality play and an inviting environment.

Beyond the course, visitors can expect attentive staff and a relaxed clubhouse atmosphere where stories and camaraderie flow freely. Golfers coming to Eagle Nest will find both a challenge to test their skills and a warm welcome that makes every visit feel worthwhile. Given its coastal setting and practical routing, the course is equally suited for a casual round or a competitive day out, making it a versatile option for local players and visitors alike.

Course Highlights

Eagle Nest is a beautifully manicured course with friendly and welcoming staff that made the day even more enjoyable. The layout is both challenging and fun, offering a good mix of holes to test your skills. While the pace of play was slightly slower than ideal at 4 hours and 46 minutes, it was still manageable. Hole 18 really stands out—an intimidating par 3 with water dominating the fairway and sand bunkers guarding the green. A tough finish, but a memorable one! Here, you will play and also learn history. Founded in 1971 by longtime public servant and visionary Dick Elliott, the course was born from his dream to create an affordable, welcoming golf destination for players of all levels. So don’t miss the old Cadillac on the course—a nod to Dick Elliott himself, adding a nostalgic charm that ties past and present together.

Great course, great staff and even a great price. Greens run slow, but overall, it's a really nice course. And like I said, the staff is really great. My 11 year old son played there two days in a row and wanted to come back again…

We didn’t have the money to play some of the expensive courses this year like “tidewater” “bearfoot” or some of the other well known courses so we went with something cheaper. I was honestly nervous about how this course would be because of how cheap it was with being that close to the beach. It ended up being an awesome course nice staff conditions were great. Tough course but shot really well greens were rolling good. We will be playing at eagles nest when we come back down for the summer.

I had an amazing experience. The course is challenging and forgiving at the same time. Hope that makes sense. The staff is very friendly. One of the people who let me take a selfie with them os Eric. He has awesome stories and is very personable. From the scenery, to the staff. To the level of challenge, I enjoyed every moment.

My family and I come to Myrtle Beach every year and we’ve played just about every course in the area. This has got to be the best golf course we’ve ever played. It’s was gorgeous to look at, simple but just challenging enough that we could never get bored of it! We will definitely be back before we leave in a week and we will be back the next time we are in the area!
