North Fulton Golf Course

Atlanta, Georgia, USAMetro Atlanta

North Fulton Golf Course offers a practical, approachable 18-hole city parkland experience in Atlanta. With mature trees and a compact layout, it presents a mix of challenges well suited for intermediate players looking to sharpen their skills without the premium price tag.

Course Overview

North Fulton Golf Course, located at 216 Chastain Park Ave NW in Atlanta, Georgia, offers an 18-hole municipal layout that challenges golfers while remaining accessible to a broad range of skill levels. This city-owned course functions as a vital recreational hub within Atlanta, blending an urban parkland atmosphere with the vitality of a tight, well-used property. The course presents a mix of flat and mildly undulating terrain, with mature trees that frame many holes and define strategic corridors from tee to green.

While the layout provides ample opportunity to hone all facets of your game, the maintenance conditions contribute notably to the playing experience. Fairways deliver a firm, dense hitting surface, though they may display some inconsistency in height during peak seasons. Greens tend to be slow and can be uneven at times, which adds a level of unpredictability to putting and requires thoughtful green reading. This variability makes North Fulton particularly suited for intermediate players seeking a practical setting to refine their short game and course management skills.

Safety considerations emerge due to the course’s design within a compact city footprint. Golfers should remain alert to potential crossing points where cart paths and fairways intersect, mindful of surroundings throughout play. Walking is encouraged, especially later in the day when the fee is reduced, but players should wear sturdy shoes to manage a mix of turf surfaces and occasional uneven footing.

The clubhouse is modest and functional, supporting the facility’s straightforward, no-frills character. Staff receives positive remarks, contributing to a welcoming environment for locals and first-time visitors alike. Tee times are generally affordable, reflecting the course’s public-access nature.

While not a pristine championship venue, North Fulton Golf Course holds its own as a practical and rewarding urban course. Its blend of challenge, atmosphere, and accessibility make it a valuable part of Atlanta’s golf scene for players pursuing improvement or a relaxed round in the heart of the city.

Course Highlights

This municipal course sits within Atlanta’s urban parkland and features mature hardwoods lining narrow, straightforward fairways. Greens are known for slower-than-average speeds and occasional unevenness, requiring patience and precise putting. The compact footprint demands vigilance on crossing cart paths, emphasizing player safety in a busy city environment. The course rewards shot planning and solid iron play rather than length, making it a practical training ground for intermediate golfers and a convenient option for locals seeking affordable golf close to the city center.

Chastain is slowly become unplayable at times. The greens are slow and beat up… whoever is in charge of the scheduling for punching and rolling the greens must not be a golfer. Really hard not to take my money elsewhere when the complaints don’t get any feedback or the course doesn’t improve… The tee boxes are scalped … the greens are inconsistent and the fairways are longer than the rough on some holes, please make the changes that need to be done. This course is a city gem and one of my favorite courses to play but not too much longer. I’m posting a 1 star because I want someone to desperately save one of my favorite courses and I can return with a five star review. Please help!!!!

The Course was maintained and was fun to play. The place of play was slow judging that I was a 12 year old walking alone and I still caught up to the players in front of me. The staff was amazing! If you are a beginner than I do not recommend the back 9 but the front nine is flat until about the 7th hole. I had a great experience here and the only reason is is not 4 stars is because the course was a little worn. Great for intermediates!

For a public, course and $45 for 18 holes, I got what I expected. The greens were very fast because they were dry and in halfway, decent shape. On a hot day, make sure you bring food with you and drink. They sell no food and the water coolers were about empty.

Given the price to play and the location, this is a decent track with some really great holes, but as a result of being shoehorned into a tight property, there are some serious serious serious routing safety issues. On my first outing to this course this past week, I was a little alarmed as I found myself driving on cart paths with obvious hitting risks. It is only a matter of time - if not already - before a serious accident happens. Nets need to be installed. I saw several players launching wayward drives into traffic as well.

Pro shop guys were awesome. Course is not in good shape. Greens were super hairy, super bumpy, super slow, and whoever is changing the pins needs a new job. Fairways and rough is not consistent length at all. Challenging set up, could be a nice course with better maintenance crew.

I was honestly hoping to enjoy my day off at the course today but it was an absolute disaster, the course itself Isn’t being properly maintained. Some pins weren’t set, some holes the fairway is longer than the rough and where there is actual rough it took an additional 10 minutes to find my ball. I was venting my frustration to the proshop staff even though they had nothing to do with my frustration they were probably the only great thing there.

A fun course with thick grass offering a good hitting surface. A great place to work on the game for reasonable price. This course is in Atlanta staple has been around for decades. I’m pretty confident that it is owned by the city of Atlanta. The greens are thick and slow but offer a good experience. I highly recommend checking this out. After 5pm the cost is $20-30 to walk 18. ⭐️⭐️⭐️🇺🇸🐺
