Course Overview

Located in the heart of southwest Atlanta, John A. White Golf Course stands as a distinctive 9-hole layout offering a blend of challenge and accessibility for golfers of all skill levels. As a municipal facility, it embraces a public-access spirit rooted in community engagement and player development. The course layout is compact but thoughtfully arranged, featuring well-maintained fairways and smooth, undulating greens that reward accurate approach shots. Players will find a mix of shorter par-3s and par-4s that test shot-making without demanding prodigious length, making it an inviting choice for beginners and experienced players seeking to sharpen their short game.

The terrain is moderately rolling, framed by mature trees that offer pockets of shade and a sense of privacy on each hole. While the setting is distinctly urban, moments of calm emerge as golfers progress through the course, with natural spaces adjacent to the layout that soften the surroundings. Maintenance efforts keep the playing surfaces in solid condition, though ongoing renovation work has temporarily impacted the driving range facility. This renovation promises improvements that will elevate the overall practice experience.

John A. White Golf Course is notable for its welcoming atmosphere and inclusive spirit. Golfers new to the sport can easily access rental clubs and coaching, with professional instructors available for lessons, creating a supportive environment for skill growth. The modest yardage and approachable green complexes encourage learning and enjoyment without compromising the opportunity for strategic play. Although it is an executive-style course, there are holes that challenge players to maintain focus and precision.

Amenities include a functioning clubhouse facility and convenient parking nearby, making visits straightforward. Walking the course is highly encouraged, as the terrain is friendly to all but those will appreciate solid footwear to navigate occasional slopes. While carts are limited, the course’s design supports a quick pace of play and a relaxed rhythm.

For those traveling through Atlanta or local players aiming to improve their game, John A. White Golf Course delivers a blend of tradition and community-driven golf. It offers an authentic municipal experience where each round brings both enjoyment and a chance to refine key elements of play.

Had a great time playing at this historic course. It's currently under reconstruction so I'm sure it will only get better. Green in good shape.

An excellent executive course, especially for the 5-points area. Great place to work on your short game, with a few long holes that allow you to pull out your driver. Excellent green fees.

Course was nice but tee time was 2 hours behind because they only had like 4 carts and the driving range is closed due to construction. Other than the unfortunate delays once you hit the course all the frustrations roll right off. If you can stand the wait. Word of advice if you visit this place bring your own cart.

The entrance to the “temporary club house” is currently the building near the driving range which is closed. Park on the street across from the store and walk down the stairs. I picked this course up for a last min “hot deal” on GN. I was super impressed. From Alabama in town for a meeting and had some time to kill and this challenging 9 hole course was well manicured. Tee time at 8:30 and by the time I got to the 9th they were finishing up mowing the last hole. The sprinklers kinda gave me a shower as I headed back to the clubhouse.

Incredibly welcoming! This is our preferred course 👍🏾🙌🏾 I highly recommend for all ages…. Hands down you will love the energy here. Beautiful course, availability, diverse, inclusive. Location is perfect and I can’t say enough about the coaches, employees, volunteers, and management. If you are just starting out, no worries they have clubs you can use too👍🏾😊 They also have plenty of coaches that offer private lessons with varying prices! The guys are gentlemen here and I can’t say enough how grateful I am for that culture!!!! It is night to day from Browns Mill just on that alone in my experience and circle’s opinions. That is across the board. The coaches and employees set the tone and it carries throughout the customer’s and visitors. It makes for a great time, every time!
