Wailea Blue Golf Course
Wailea Blue Golf Course offers a lush, resort-style 18-hole layout in Kihei, Hawaii. Featuring wide fairways, fast greens, and sweeping coastal views, it balances accessibility for beginners with elements that challenge more skilled players.
Course Overview
Wailea Blue Golf Course presents a meticulously maintained 18-hole layout that invites players of varying skill levels to engage with Hawaii’s coastal terrain. Located in Kihei on the island of Maui, this course offers a classic resort setting where each hole unfolds against a backdrop of lush landscaping and panoramic Pacific vistas. The course’s wide fairways provide generous landing areas, making it accessible for beginners and intermediate players, while its subtly contoured greens and occasional strategic bunkers deliver enough challenge to test more experienced golfers.
Players will find a smooth pace of play, supported by straightforward access to multiple practice areas including a welcoming driving range where warmups are encouraged. The tropical climate keeps the course in excellent condition year-round, with February rounds often praised for pristine fairways and fast, true greens. The layout carefully blends open spaces with pockets of native vegetation, though recent development along parts of the back nine introduces a more urban edge to the surroundings.
Wailea Blue’s scenery commands attention without overshadowing playability, as gentle trade winds frequently influence shot-making decisions, rewarding thoughtful club selection and measured tempo. The design avoids excessive length, allowing golfers to enjoy rhythm and flow rather than brute distance. Notably, several holes border residential homes built close to the course, which alters the natural feel but also offers a rare juxtaposition of nature and development.
Amenities at Wailea Blue reflect its resort philosophy, with friendly staff supporting a relaxed yet professional atmosphere. Cart rentals and rack storage are available, although many golfers appreciate walking given the course’s manageable elevation changes and well-maintained paths. Despite the encroaching homes, the overall experience captures the casual elegance of island golf, making it well suited to visitors seeking a balanced round that combines challenge with visual appeal.
Anyone planning their visit should prepare for Hawaii’s sun with appropriate gear and hydration. Early tee times help avoid midday heat and provide serene conditions that lift the senses alongside the rolling greens. Whether you aim to refine your swing or enjoy an island outing, Wailea Blue stands as an approachable course where the setting and layout encourage both enjoyment and improvement.
Course Highlights
Wailea Blue’s design emphasizes wide fairways and fast, tricky greens that demand precision putting. Practice facilities include a large driving range and putting greens, providing ample space for warm-up and skill sharpening.

Great layout and conditions for the beginner and intermediate golfer. The greens are fast and the fairways are in great condition for February anywhere.

Beautiful course and a joy to play. Wide fairways, tough greens and fast. Too bad the houses are squeezing out the natural feel of the course. American way - build McMansions and rent them out and bet you’re going to sell them in 2 years for $MM more. 👎 I’ll play again if it’s still here.

We had a mid day tee time, the ranges were easy to get a quick warm up at then it was easy to fall in. 18 holes flew by with breathtaking views, the cart woman was friendly, and the course was well manicured. We had a great time getting out and having some fun.

Beautiful course, although I'm a lifetime resident of Maui, I haven't played there for 25 yrs. Part of the beauty is now spoiled by all the homes & Townhouses that is squeezing out the course and the beautiful views surrounding it. Sad. 😢. 😀

Nice course but 8th hole is no longer a par 4 because it's too close to the street and easy to hit into it. Houses built on the back nine (18 especially with lots of new construction going on right now) really close to the fairways. Builders are to blame but sadly takes away from the golf experience.
