Maui Nui Golf Club

Kihei, Hawaii, USAMaui

Maui Nui Golf Club offers an accessible yet engaging 18-hole layout in Kihei, blending rolling terrain and vibrant coastal trade winds to test your game. Known for its well-maintained fairways and community atmosphere, it provides great value and a unique golfing experience on Maui’s south shore.

Course Overview

Maui Nui Golf Club presents an inviting challenge for golfers seeking a well-rounded experience in Kihei, Hawaii. This 18-hole public course stretches over 6,500 yards with a par of 72, offering playability suited for a wide range of skill levels while delivering the kind of test that keeps players engaged from the first tee to the final green. The layout unfolds through a gently rolling landscape that blends open fairways with strategically placed bunkers and subtle elevation changes, harnessing Hawaii’s trade winds to add a natural element of strategy and pace control.

While not a traditional resort course with sprawling ocean views, Maui Nui provides a fresh take on island golf, focusing on solid turf conditions and straightforward routing. The fairways are consistently maintained, presenting true lies that reward well-executed shots, and the greens hold their speeds well, encouraging creative putting lines. Some bunkers incorporate black sand unique to the location that can affect bunker shots, requiring players to adjust technique for best results.

This course’s setting inside a residential community creates a relaxed atmosphere absent of intense foot traffic, often allowing for smooth rounds. Golfers can expect courteous service at the well-equipped pro shop and enjoy a friendly staff that enhances the experience. The practice area features a driving range with technology akin to popular entertainment golf venues, appealing to players keen on refining their game before stepping onto the course.

Maui Nui’s affordability and openness to youth programs mark it as a community-focused destination along Hawaii’s south shore. Although it lacks dramatic cliffside drama or lush rainforest backdrops, the club delivers consistent conditions and a fair but engaging challenge. Walkers will appreciate the gentle terrain and inviting pace, while those renting clubs find added perks such as complimentary practice balls.

For visitors planning a round, morning tee times provide cooler conditions before the midday trade winds pick up, and comfortable golf shoes are advised given the combination of turf and sandy bunker surfaces. Maui Nui Golf Club invites players to experience genuine island golf that balances playability with a spirited test, making a visit both approachable and rewarding.

Course Highlights

Maui Nui stands out for its integration of natural trade winds that require thoughtful shot shaping, and unique bunkers with black sand adding subtle complexity to hazard play. The practice facility includes a driving range equipped with advanced technology that simulates real course conditions. The course’s style emphasizes straightforward routing with rolling fairways and approachable greens that welcome golfers seeking both enjoyment and challenge.

Great course and very fun. Staff was helpful and attentive. Happy hour beers were $4 Military discount was $50 per person vs $300 at emerald, gold and blue courses right down the road. Range was fun and had similar range finders you’d play with at top golf. 100% worth it to golf here

Overall nice experience, first time playing from California. Friendly and helpful staff, greens and fairways were in good condition. Bunkers had a thinnish layer of black sand, which I could not figure out. (Not sure if it was bad technique. I found 3 bunkers, took 1 shot to get out of each but my club seemed to bottom out early and glide, and every shot was a screamer out of the trap). It was windy out on the range but I did not notice the effect out on the course as much.

Poor shape course, loud and distracting construction on hole 13,14,15,16. Horrible bunkers. Extremely unpredictable slow greens. Really bad staff. You could say you get what you pay for still overpriced in my opinion.

Our group of 3 from Minnesota was joined by a gentleman from Washington. The 4 of us had a great time. Never had to wait on another group, rarely saw anyone behind us, and the beverage cart was always there when we needed it. The greens were in good shape and the fairways were beautiful. The price was the most reasonable as well for Maui. We also received 6 free balls with our club rentals.

Great place to golf at a very reasonable price. We are glade that they accept youth on course, and have several programs that offer adult golf at affordable prices.

Great test of golf but playable from all blocks. Economically you can’t beat this course anywhere in Maui. Great friendly staff from the pro shop and on the course. You’ll love playing here.

June 30 2025 I understand that the course has a new superintendent. He or she has done a great job improving the course. It's in a better condition now. It's great for the price on Maui. The staffs are friendly and kind. The range has been remodeled a few years back with solar panels canopy. Also, each bay has a launch monotor! The greens are in great conditions but kind of slow but you can get used to it. A little tip for putting on these green, if you've never played here before; they usually break more than you think if you've not used to Bermuda (i think). Mahalo Maui Nui.🤙
