Harbour Town Golf Links

Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, USALowcountry

Harbour Town Golf Links offers an iconic coastal golf experience on Hilton Head Island, with 18 holes that challenge strategy and finesse amid salt marshes and shifting coastal winds. Its signature finishing hole and mandatory caddies create a memorable round for golfers seeking a links-style test in the Lowcountry.

Course Overview

Harbour Town Golf Links, located at 11 Lighthouse Lane on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, presents a sweeping coastal golf experience that balances challenge and charm across its renowned 18 holes. This public course, well-known for its place on the PGA Tour, unfolds along the tidal waters of Calibogue Sound, where narrow fairways are framed by salt marshes and strategically placed bunkers filled with real sand. The course demands precision rather than sheer power, inviting players to gauge wind shifts and carefully navigate water hazards that come into play on many holes.

A hallmark of Harbour Town is its intimate setting that whispers the history of competitive golf while providing modern practice facilities and a clubhouse that overlooks the signature 18th green. This finishing hole is a compelling test with water guarding the right side, inviting a smart approach and nerve under pressure as the day closes. Players often find the greens subtle and fast, requiring a thoughtful touch to tame their contours.

Designed with the links-style spirit, Harbour Town offers wide, yet strategically narrow landing zones that reward thoughtful shot placement. The coastal winds challenge tempo and trajectory, particularly on the exposed holes deeper into the round. It's a course accessible to committed golfers who appreciate risk-reward shots but also accommodates a broad range of skill levels through multiple tee options.

The mandatory caddie program enriches the experience, providing local insight into course nuances, while golf carts are permitted but walking is encouraged for those seeking a classic links feel. Harbour Town remains a sought-after destination for those looking to test their game against a course that has shaped professional and amateur golf alike.

Visitors should plan their rounds with attention to tidal shifts and weather conditions common to coastal South Carolina. The clubhouse offers comfortable amenities, including dining options and a small museum celebrating the course’s storied place in golf history. For players craving a memorable round that combines tactical shotmaking with a vivid seaside atmosphere, Harbour Town demands inclusion on any serious golfer’s itinerary.

Fantastic golf course with wide fairways, real sand in the bunkers, lots of water hazards, and great greens especially holes 13 and 18. Mandatory caddie for every 4 players, we had "Bones". Great caddie experience. The practice area was great and the staff was fantastic. The Tee Time was expensive but worth every penny.

This was a special round for me a few years ago while vacationing in Hilton Head. Harbour Town was the 500th course I played in my career! I was a single and was paired up with a threesome. It was a great experience and I enjoyed it immensely. Playing here was a bucket list item for me, so the expense was justified. Beautiful course, clubhouse and practice facilities.

Myself And two friends one living in SC I went to flight school with we traveled from Indianapolis IN to visit my good friend and we played 18 holes at the prestigious course. Our scores were not professional by any standards but we all shot under 100 so we felt pretty good. The course was beautiful and for 3 ammetures we felt good.
