Shadowmoss Golf & Country Club offers an 18-hole private championship course that balances parkland beauty with subtle coastal elements. Its well-maintained layout caters to a range of skill levels, rewarding strategic play amid evolving bunkers, water features, and mature tree lines.

Course Overview

Shadowmoss Golf & Country Club presents an 18-hole championship course that invites golfers to engage with a thoughtfully maintained layout located in Charleston, South Carolina. This private club blends a parkland style with subtle coastal influences, featuring a terrain that balances gentle elevation changes with stretches of mature pines and strategically placed water hazards. The setting creates a quietly compelling canvas where players can test various shot-making skills without facing relentless brutality.

Designed to challenge a broad spectrum of skill levels, Shadowmoss offers a range of hole lengths and multiple tees to accommodate both advancing golfers and those seeking a relaxed round. The course’s fairways display a mix of generous landing areas and narrower corridors, encouraging strategic play especially around the mid- to long-irons. Greens are often guarded by sand bunkers and water, requiring thoughtful approach shots and precision around the pins. While the greens are generally receptive, their contours reward careful reads and a steady putting stroke.

One of the distinctive features of Shadowmoss is its evolving bunkers, which have undergone significant enhancement to sharpen their presentation and impact on play. The variety found in its par-3s and the interplay between water and tree lines on multiple holes create a subtle pressure that keeps momentum and focus intact throughout the round.

The club’s amenities support both the game and the social rhythm of golf, with a welcoming clubhouse that offers comfortable gathering spaces and dining options. A practicing area is available, although recent maintenance can occasionally limit early access. The friendly and accommodating staff contribute to a positive atmosphere for members and guests alike.

Visitors contemplating a game should be prepared for walking conditions that encourage golf shoes with solid grip due to natural slopes and varying turf conditions. Shadowmoss remains a compelling choice for golfers seeking a private club experience marked by course care, diverse challenges, and a tranquil South Carolina golf setting.

I really enjoyed the course. It was in much better condition than I was expecting after reading the reviews. Greens were slow but in good shape. I look forward to playing again next time I’m in the area.

Average at best in my opinion. Range was closed so no warm up before our round. Greens looked like they had been mowed in the last couple days and there were still large clumps of grass clippings all over almost every green. Had to do quite a bit of house cleaning just to be able to putt. Tee boxes were in pretty rough shape as well. I have definitely played much worse courses, but for the cost, I was anticipating a much better course. I did enjoy the layout of the course and variety in the par 3 distances.

Love the people at the pool. I would like it if they would pick the garbage up at the end of the day. Each morning there is a fair amount of garbage on the deck.

I am fortunate enough to get to play Shawdowmoss two or three times a month. they have done a tremendous amount of work to their sand traps in their greens over the last couple of years, it is truly a fun golf course to play. We normally play on a Wednesday, the only downside is the driving range does not open up early in the morning on Wednesday they’re doing maintenance to it. periodically they flip the back in the front your tee off on one and then two Weeks down the road to tee off on 10, which is kind of fun. Everybody there is nice and helpful. Great staff in the course like I said is in really good shape. If you get a chance to play it, you will thoroughly enjoy it.
