Highlands Golf Club at Seven Springs

Champion, Pennsylvania, USALaurel Highlands

Highlands Golf Club at Seven Springs delivers a mountain golf challenge across 7,000 yards of varied terrain. Combining uphill tests, tree-lined fairways, and strategic bunkering, this public course offers players of all levels a compelling and scenic round in the heart of Pennsylvania's Laurel Highlands.

Course Overview

Highlands Golf Club at Seven Springs offers an 18-hole test set against the rugged foothills of Pennsylvania's Laurel Highlands. This public-course layout stretches over 7,000 yards from the back tees, demanding strategic accuracy and confident shot making. The course’s design takes full advantage of the natural topography, with elevation changes that add both visual drama and a physical challenge. Long par-5s push players to balance power and placement, while shorter holes require precise iron play to navigate well-positioned bunkers and undulating greens.

Unlike traditional parkland or links-style courses, Highlands Golf Club blends mountain terrain with a classic course design ethos. Tree-lined fairways wind through hillside contours, offering glimpses of the surrounding forested ridges with every tee shot. The footing can be firm and fast, especially after rainfall, rewarding players who adapt quickly to subtle breaks and rollouts.

With playability in mind, the course caters to a wide range of skill levels. The forward tees provide an approachable option for higher handicaps, while the back tees challenge even low-handicap players with extended distances and forced carries. The course priority leans toward shot shaping and course management rather than sheer power, so careful club selection maintains an advantage throughout the round.

Amenities include a well-stocked pro shop, a clubhouse with panoramic views that overlook key holes, and on-course dining options suitable for a quick refuel or a relaxed break. Golfers pacing their rounds on foot will appreciate the manageable walking paths despite the elevation, though supportive footwear is recommended.

Conditioning can fluctuate with the seasons, so timing a visit in late spring through early fall typically ensures the best playing surfaces and weather. Highlands Golf Club at Seven Springs is a rewarding destination for those looking to engage both mind and body, embracing a true mountain golf experience with practical challenges and scenic rewards.

Course Highlights

The course stands out for its elevation changes that impact shot selection, spacious yet demanding fairways, and well-placed bunkers that guard the greens. The layout rewards players who combine strategic thinking with physical endurance, featuring signature uphill par-5s that add length and challenge. The mature forest surrounds provide natural wind breaks while framing holes with a mountain character unique to the region.

Most if not all of these reviews must be made up. $44 on Friday(reasonable). Saturday morning it was $82(gouging). Pro Shop let a single with no tee time go out in between foursomes. Staff was incompetent and demanding. Hamburger at the turn was cold. Greens were slow to the point where you couldn't make a putt. When the ball slowed it would turn sharply. Inexperienced players playing from the back tees. Extremely poor run establishment. Terrible experience. Will never go back. Don't waste your money. Only positive was the Assistant Pro. Good Guy.

Great course. We went the day after they got 2 inches of rain, and it wasn't bad. Good drainage.

The course layout is challenging… With long power fives uphill adding extra yards. I was surprised by the weeds/dandelions everywhere. The $44 weekday spring right is probably what the rates should be all summer. But wouldn’t go back when they go up $70 plus.
