Camdenton, Missouri, USALake of the Ozarks

Old Kinderhook Golf Course offers 18 holes of championship golf amid the rolling hills of Missouri’s Ozarks. Its mix of elevation changes, strategic bunkering, and fast greens creates a challenging yet approachable round for golfers of all levels.

Course Overview

Located in the heart of the Ozarks near Camdenton, Missouri, Old Kinderhook Golf Course offers an 18-hole, championship layout that challenges and rewards golfers with its varied terrain and thoughtful design. This public course is set amid gently rolling hills, where thick fairways and strategically placed bunkers shape a playing experience that tests precision while remaining engaging for players of all skill levels.

The course’s elevation changes create subtle challenges and opportunities throughout the round, requiring golfers to consider club selection carefully as they navigate uphill approaches and downhill tee shots. Fairways are generally forgiving but guarded by well-positioned sand traps, particularly around the greens where undulations encourage a strategic approach to the short game. Greens are known for their firm, quick surfaces, demanding confident putting strokes and steady nerves.

Surrounding the golf course, the scenery embraces a mixture of mature trees and open vistas, reflecting its Ozark surroundings without overwhelming the landscape. This balance allows sunlight to highlight the sweeping stretches of fairway while sheltering certain holes with natural tree lines that shape shots and add visual interest.

Old Kinderhook is also noted for its blend of challenge and playability. While some holes push more skilled players to use every club in their bag and think creatively, others provide accessible scoring opportunities for higher handicaps, making the course inviting for a broad audience. Golfers can expect a full range of experiences from demanding tee shots to reachable par 5s.

Amenities include a well-appointed clubhouse offering dining options that cater to groups and solo players alike, as well as a pro shop with the essentials for both equipment and apparel. Cart paths are well maintained, and golf carts come equipped with ball and club cleaners, supporting an efficient and comfortable round.

When planning a visit, note that summer heat can impact play conditions, so early tee times are recommended to enjoy the course before midday warmth intensifies. Overall, Old Kinderhook Golf Course presents a rounded golf experience shaped by natural elevation, carefully crafted holes, and facilities designed to enhance every round.

Way too stacked up with golfers. Had to wait 10 minutes every stroke.

Such a beautiful course. I always love playing here. Greens are always in prime condition and so is the rest of the course.

We called ahead and got a tee time. We discussed playing 36 holes, and getting the replay rate. Our group arrived 35 minutes before our tee time. Took an unreasonable amount of time to get checked in, were we only had a couple minutes to warm up. Fun track with some difficult holes, and some gettable ones. Cafe in the club house had a few delicious lunch options. Beverage lady did us well. Best course I played in the Ozarks area.

The negative. Nothing really comes to mind. Greens had some scarring in them but nothing major. Overall, the course is in great shape. A little soggy in the bottoms but nothing major. Greens are hard and fast. I liked them. Bunkers are hard with some rocks. Not a fan of that for my club's sake. Had to move some pebbles and debris before I swung. Made it more challenging. That was the worse part of my game play, the greens. Great views, challenging, good length. Had a great time and look forward to playing there again!

My group keeps coming back to this course over and over again. It's one of my favorite layouts. And Blake, the Golf Group Sales Director, is really great in helping us coordinate rooms and tee times. I highly recommend this course and staff.

Very beautiful and fun course. Would love to play this in the fall as today it was brutal heat. Carts have ball and club cleaners and a cooler on the side so you can keep the basket behind the seat free for other golf items. Fairways were very plush and the rough was playable but just the right height to grab your iron and really slow it down. Greens were fast but in great shape. Can't wait to get back down there when the heat wave is over.
