Kenai Golf Course

Kenai, Alaska, USAKenai Peninsula

Kenai Golf Course presents an approachable 18-hole parkland layout shaped by coastal winds and gentle terrain. Suitable for beginners and intermediate players, it offers a practical and scenic golf experience with friendly service and a touch of Alaskan wilderness.

Course Overview

Kenai Golf Course offers an 18-hole experience that reflects the rugged beauty of Alaska’s Kenai Peninsula. As a public facility, it welcomes players of various skill levels seeking to enjoy the game amid a distinctly northern landscape. The course layout features a straightforward parkland style with open fairways framed sporadically by spruce and birch trees, exposing golfers to steady coastal winds that quietly influence shot selection and tempo.

Spanning just over 6,200 yards with a par of 72, Kenai Golf Course balances playability with enough challenge to engage beginners and intermediate golfers. Fairways are relatively generous, granting margin for error, though players will encounter some uneven lies and less-than-perfect turf conditions, particularly during the early summer months. The greens tend to run a bit bumpy, a character partially shaped by the short northern growing season, but remain receptive and fairly true for putting.

The setting around the course is modest but authentic, marked by sweeping views of nearby hills and occasional glimpses of Cook Inlet’s waters beyond. Nature occasionally gates the experience with patches of native grass and wildflowers edging certain holes, reminding players of the untamed environment surrounding them. While the course lacks dramatic elevation changes, its gently rolling terrain keeps strategy varied, especially when factoring in wind patterns.

Amenities include a welcoming clubhouse and a practice area suitable for warming up before play. Golf cart rentals are available, though many players opt to walk, partly to better appreciate the fresh air and quiet Alaska atmosphere. Staff on site offer friendly service and helpful instruction for newcomers, making Kenai Golf Course a practical choice for family outings and those refining their skills.

Golfers planning a visit should prepare for changing weather conditions and bring sturdy footwear to navigate some uneven ground. The course’s affordability and relaxed vibe provide a grounded introduction to golf in a remote setting, making it a noteworthy stop for travelers exploring Alaska’s outdoor offerings.

Course Highlights

Kenai Golf Course combines a straightforward parkland design with natural Alaskan elements like coastal winds and native vegetation. The course’s open fairways and rolling terrain allow for a variety of shot decisions, while the views of Cook Inlet and surrounding hills add quiet visual interest. Friendly staff and a practical layout make it ideal for newcomers to the game and families learning alongside more experienced players.

Course was in pretty good shape and greens were getting there for mid June. But the new rates don’t justify playing here. 60$ for residents and 90$ for non residents to walk 18 holes is robbery

I understand that the bar for Alaska golf is low (ranked dead last among US states), but this is the lowliest dog track I've ever stepped foot on. The course has more dead grass than not in the middle of June. Beyond that, driving the golf cart through the fairway is reminiscent of choppy water - you might need a visit to the chiropractor afterward. Do yourself a favor and light your $100 bill on fire instead of playing this course. The entertainment value is higher. 0/5, if possible.

The Kenai golf course is a nice beginner ski course that is groomed for classic and skate skiing. There are one or two nice views but otherwise it is what you would expect for a golf course. If it is windy there is no protection from the trees. Get out and enjoy our local trails.

After having a bad experience at Bird Homestead Golf Course in Soldotna, I decided on Kenai Golf Course where we were met by a friendly staff. My son & myself are beginners & they saw that (blatantly obvious with how poorly we were doing) so we were approached with an offer for a lesson rather than holding up other players. I wasn’t offended at all but relieved as I don’t even know proper form let alone where to go. The gentleman who schooled us was patient & informative. My son & I both learned a lot today. Kenai Golf Course will be our go to & we’ll spend more time on the driving range learning form before going through the actual course.

Great and friensly staff and a very cool layout for the course. Very reasonable prices. Easily the best course on the peninsula. The only downside would be the state of the greens, which are a little bumpy. Despite that, all are very playable
