Shandin Hills Golf Club

San Bernardino, California, USAInland Empire

Shandin Hills Golf Club offers an 18-hole test combining rolling foothills and open parkland fairways. Its varied terrain and strategic bunkering provide a balanced challenge suitable for players who appreciate elevation changes and precision around the greens.

Course Overview

Shandin Hills Golf Club, located at 3380 Little Mountain Dr in San Bernardino, California, presents an intriguing blend of foothill terrain and open expanses across its 18-hole layout. The front nine challenges golfers with undulating fairways that nestle into the hillside, demanding thoughtful club selection and precise shot shaping. This portion of the course highlights the natural slopes and elevation changes, providing not only a test of skill but also varied sightlines that reward players who engage with the terrain carefully. The back nine opens up significantly, offering wide, level fairways that invite more aggressive strategies off the tee. Greens throughout Shandin Hills are guarded by two to three bunkers that require exact approaches. These sandy traps are deep and well-maintained when conditions are favorable, placing a premium on accuracy around the greens.

The course’s overall setting is a fusion of foothill character on the front and parkland elements on the back, creating a layout that tests different aspects of a golfer’s game. While some recent feedback from players points to inconsistent greens maintenance, particularly on the front nine, others have praised well-kept fairways and deep bunkers. The pace of play can vary, with rounds occasionally extending beyond four hours, so planning an early tee time and maintaining focus on pace is advisable.

Shandin Hills serves a diverse player base but particularly appeals to those comfortable with moderate elevation changes and strategic bunkering. Its combination of terrain types offers a rewarding experience for golfers looking to engage different shot types and tactical approaches.

Beyond golf, the club features a spacious clubhouse and has been a sought-after site for events, including weddings, benefiting from well-landscaped grounds and accommodating staff. Walking is allowed, though players should be prepared for some hill climbs on the front nine; solid walking shoes will enhance comfort.

Overall, Shandin Hills Golf Club provides an experience shaped by its foothill geography and open back nine, inviting players to balance shot creativity with power. Visitors should anticipate a course that can fluctuate in condition but remains a distinctive challenge in the San Bernardino area.

Used to play here few years ago, but was sad to see that a course is not properly maintained. Back 9 is bit better than the first 9. At least if a green is well covered and maintained, it would be better to play.

This enjoyable course is a twofer - the front 9 winds up into the foothills with some fun terrain, while the back nine is wide open and mostly level. Fire away. Front or back, most greens are defended by two or three bunkers that will reward planning and precision on approach. Course conditions were ideal on a recent weekday morning, impeccable greens, close-cropped fairways, deep sandy bunkers, no mud. Pace of play was quite slow for some reason, even with an early tee-time. Let’s say keeping pace with the group ahead was never a problem, adding up to a 4+ hour round.

Played it today for the first time and will not be returning. The greens were in horrible shape. Your putts hit every little nook and crevice sending the ball in every direction.

Long time member whose account has been in limbo because management failed to notify me that my credit card had expired. I visited the course numerous times and made numerous bookings without being told that there was a problem and then all of the sudden I’m told that I owe over 800 dollars for missed payments. How am I responsible for their oversight, I don’t understand the logic of this being my fault. I’ve written emails and have not received a reply and don’t know if I ever will. Hopefully someone sees this and reaches out to me so that I can get help with an amicable solution.

Just moved into the area and wanted to find a good range to practice at. Went to the pro shop to buy some balls for the range and was turned away because I wasn’t wearing a polo even though i was wearing a golf t-shirt. This has never been an issue for me at any other course for just practicing at the range, but for playing the course I understand. There is no mention of a dress code on their website for the course or driving range either so i cant help but feel i was turned away for the color of my skin. Will not be coming back here.

I am writing to bring to your attention the recent implementation of a new dress code policy for individuals using the driving range to hit balls and work out. While I understand and appreciate the reasons behind this new rule, I believe it would be beneficial if this information were clearly communicated on the range's official web page. Providing detailed guidelines about the dress code online would help patrons prepare accordingly and ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for everyone. Thank you for considering this suggestion. I look forward to your response and to continuing my visits under the updated policy.
